I am amazed that there are no mechanisms to prevent this sort of thing from happening. Why not disable whispering between friends if they are on opposite teams? Or just eliminate summoner names until post-game? Why is elo boosting essentially unpunished?

It's incredibly rare for two specific people to meet through random matchmaking. Do you know how many people play this game? If someone told you they knew the other guy, most likely they were fucking with you.
