First restriction.

I just.... wanna get something straight. And you don't -have- to believe me, I really don't mind but I just experienced something in ranked that has shattered my brain in terms of Riot being troll.

In a ranked game, we're against a team up by ten kills. So naturally they're talking "smack". Smack is a top lane Darius shit talking our top lane Teemo. I'm the jungler. So I gank him twice when he overextends, he dies. He starts talking smack to me and I tell him it's a team game, deal with it or play something more 1v1 oriented.

His teammates jump in and say I'm really not doing much anyways, blah blah blah. I stand my ground but I KEEP MYSELF IN THE ToS in doing so. I don't get toxic, I don't say this or that.

So then MY BOT LANE complains and starts agreeing WITH THE ENEMY TEAM because I haven't ganked much for them. Because honestly? I can't. They're always pushed and that's why they're dying. I defend myself. I defend myself. I defend myself. When the game ends? My bot lane support Thresh says "so we can all report Sejuani for negative attitude, right?" three people on the enemy team agree, our mid and bot lane agrees.

I get reported and get a NINE GAME RANKED RESTRICTION TODAY. And I don't want assumptions about my behavior and how I am. If I was a toxic person and deserved it? I wouldn't be here pissed off and as enraged as what I am right now but the fact that I can't stand up for myself and am being told by Riot to lay down and let people shit talk me and report me all because they want someone to direct their anger at is complete utter horseshit.

And while Riot might not care - I did. I actually gave a damn to invest a LOT of money into a game I played a LOT and for what? For that to happen? To watch a system get misused into bullying people around and getting them banned? That's what the hell my time here has been for? Welp. That's that for me. Have a horror story of your own? let's hear it. Please.

Rather than make unwarranted assumptions, allow me to address the functions of the system:

You never get restrictions for a single game. Among other things, it takes far more reported games than that just to get a case built against you. So it's not unreasonable to state that you may very well have been entirely in the right in that case, yet still deserved the restriction for behaviors exhibited elsewhere. Whether that's true or not, I'm not in a position to say, but it's likely, given the way the systems work.

That wasn't a horror story or a misuse of the system. Riot says themselves on the chat restriction support article to not argue. Just mute them. You don't need to justify their stupidity with a response, and you don't even need to listen to it. Doing so just keeps it going and kills team morale.

You can speed through the restriction on 3v3 beginner bots.

You know what's even funnier, they are probably like 10 years old, and you are what? 20 something? They own you!

You know who invests even more money than you? Those kids parents.

Hi, I support your thread and I encourage you to write a formal complaint here :

https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=4584

I would recommend the category Games & Features / Feedback

Feel free to take inspiration from my complaint :

"I'm honestly getting tired of how ridiculously easy you guys are throwing games restrictions around. LoL is supposed to be an E-sports, and sports in general are meant to be competitive. With that being said It infuriates me that I'm restricted for taunting my opponents. Do you think the sport of boxing would be the same if it weren't for the fighters ego, their self belief and the occasional taunting of the opponents ? It would be understandable if I were throwing around racial slurs or afking during games, but all that I'm doing is taunting my opponent in the spirit of competition. Should I be punished because my opponents feel angry after losing ? You should really make it harder to report people, so if something actually bothers them they'll take the time to go online and write a formal complaint. Pressing a button after the game is over is just too simple. Whenever the players lose, they just click the button and all of a sudden they feel better because they feel some sort of justification. Please for the sake of competitive E-sports, fix the system. "

Let's try and get some change going :)

Do you have chat logs from the game?

As others have mentioned, you have to be reported in multiple games - multiple reports in a single game carry diminished weight. Also you -say- you were within the ToS and didn't 'get toxic', by which I suppose you mean 'didn't cuss anyone out'. However, are you aware that calling people by non-cuss word insults (stupid, idiotic, ridiculous, etc.) can also be considered toxic? Especially if you pull out words that are considered to slander certain groups (gay, retard) you're more likely to be punished.

Also you give a really long story about how you were persecuted and that's the only reason you responded with whatever you responded with. However, that's all irrelevant - retaliation is not an excuse. Even if the instigating players said much worse things (cussing someone out and using pejorative terms for example, while for example the retaliator only calls them 'stupid' and 'annoying'), the person retaliating can still get punished.

Of course, the instigators can also get punished if the retaliating player also reports, and then -everybody- loses. Which is why it's better not to rage, and if raged at, it's better to mute, report, and move on.
