Social Community

I understand that the League of Legends game is the money maker here, and that these forums are here purely for us to bring up ideas/feedback which Riot can use to make the game better so that, in turn, more people play more often, and more revenue is earned. I get it: at the end of the day, the people at Riot deserve a paycheck for making such a good game and for keeping it from becoming stale by updating it.

That said, I think that the experience of the players can be enhanced by adding a kind of social network, in which players can communicate with each other better. I feel that League needs a better means of communication between players. Right now, League of Legends feels like AIM. You have to be logged on to talk to people, and the conversations are limited to two people unless you are in a game party, or are in a comment board, and those have way too many people to be able to hold a decent conversation.

Beyond the conversations, it'd be nice to make updates your friends on League of Legends can see, as well as reaching certain milestones, such as gaining specific levels (like level 30), being awarded certain things (like ribbons), buying champions or skins, moving up ranks in Ranked, etc. Also, it would allow players to make clans more easily, customize their profiles, and make ranked teams more simple.

I understand that other social medias can be used to achieve this. However, those medias are all too public. I only let people I know in real life be friends with me on Facebook, but half of my friends on League of Legends are people I have met online. I would like to be able to interact with them, but the current system is not open enough for me to be as social as I'd like to be, while other social medias are too open for me.

In all, I think that, while there is little to no monetary motivation for this to happen, the League of Legends community would highly benefit from a social network. I know that I would use it a lot to keep up to date with my online friends.
