IP Addresses. They aren't what you think.

It's funny how my generation thought that the next would be so much smarter in terms of computers.

However, these posts about IP address bans, literally make me cry as to the complete lack of knowledge as to how the Internet works.

You literally only need to take 5 minutes out of your busy day of watching Justin Bieber videos to learn something:

The problem is that sometimes in trying to dumb down their explanation they make analogies to things like the US Mail system. In your head you acquire an idea of an immobile house. Unfortunately, IP addresses are more like a mobile home, and they do not all remain static. Some do and some don't.
