It's always worth remembering there's a real human being on the other side of the keyboard. Sometimes I look around at a crowded mall or in the middle of a giant raid and try to imagine the fact that EVERYONE there has lives as complex as my own - with friends and problems and preferences for broccoli or whatever. It's a simple thing that never fails to blow my mind.

Other than that, totally right. Just because you are having a bad day, or a bad game, doesn't mean the other people in the game aren't in similar or worse situations. Treat them with respect, this may be their only escape.

If that happened to me I don't know what I'd do, mostly because my mother was indeed killed from domestic violence and I've since been battling with depression and the subsequent piss-poor school grades. Mine is the opposite. Whenever I stop to playing games to pester her, she tells me to leave her alone. At that point, I go play more games. Works wonders.

It also helps that she works thirds while I work first shift, so she is usually sleeping or at work when I'm home.

I love how everyone in here is trying to act all "holier than thou" when in reality you are probably all responsible for trash talking, demoralizing, tilting, and blaming teammates and opponents alike. I understand this all too well. When you can bring yourself to sympathize with a player going through this and understand it's a more common unfortunateness than you'd expect, you will then change for the better.

I play a lot of high elo games and most of my games the chat is nearly empty, so nobody ever knows what a player feels like in real life. I take the caution that even if a player is trolling, that maybe they're just having a bad game because of real life situations. summoner 13

Was in a recent ARAM game. Someone on my team made a comment about suicide. It was slightly ambiguous but they were probably talking about in game, so the other team doesn't get any gold. A person on the other team asked "IRL or ingame?". guy on our team said something like "lol both I guess". Enemy team guy then posted the phone number for the suicide hotline. I was moved. He was probably only joking, but the possibility of that helping someone was more important.
