Accounts that have just been purchased sometimes feel betrayed. Its very important to make the account feel safe. Buy it a name change or new icon to let it know you aren't going to sell it off. last but not least don't mention your other accounts.

I made this account actually to play with a friend while he was leveling up. and the amount of "smurfs" in unranked pre-30 games is unreal. I didnt tell anyone i was "smurfing" i simply said i came from a different moba so i understood the game a bit.
The bronze and silver player smurfs are super toxic, blame their teams for everything, and still cant carry a game when they "know the game so well"
If you are bronze or silver, and have another account i cannot stress this enough. It is not a smurf, it is just another account. Stop flaming the people who want to play and learn the game. you are only making the community worse by breeding players like yourself.

Aerilus1 votesThere's that and matchmaking is atrociously broken, at least on a low level account the worst you'll be up against is other smurfs. When you're playing at Bronze/Silver you're consistently matched against golds and plats and the game becomes too much of whoever has the higher ranked players, it's either easy win or easy loss, it's hardly a fair match. People fight against this unfair and random assortment matchmaking by making new accounts.

DotA later came along as a Warcraft 3 map and really popularized the gameplay type by adding more features and using Warcraft 3's engine to add more complex RPG elements to the genre as opposed to AoS's resource gain upon killing enemy heroes/units to upgrade your own hero's damage, armor, etc.
So, yeah. MOBAs have been around in some form for almost 18 years now.

Riot doesn't allow this because new players would probably fall for it. "What, why should I spend months leveling an account and grinding IP when I can just buy one?" League has an incredible learning curve, and sometimes people who have played for years have forgotten this fact. There is a good reason getting to level 30 takes a long-ass time.
There's also the suggestion that Riot doesn't like smurfs on a philosophical level. They want you, the player, to grow attached to your account. They want you to see it as your own investment of time into the game; you've earned that IP, you've bought the champs you like, you've climbed the rank with that, you have friends who identify you by that account, etc. They want you to take that account as high as you can in the ranks. This would all lose meaning if we could easily just fork over some money for a brand-new account.
