PSA: Your Snowdown Shop's Offers

There seem to be a lot of people with expectations of what the personalized sales offers are. There've been a lot of people claiming that the champions you play the most have the highest chance of showing up in the store (reddit, in game, stream chat). That's not necessarily the case, as the criteria for personalized offers are more extensive than that. {quoted} the Snowdown shop will feature six unique champions or skins (excluding Legendary, Ultimate, and Limited) released more than three months ago) based on your playstyle. It's based on a ton of different factors, but playstyle is the best way to describe it. I think it'll make a bit more sense once you see the shop for yourself. As stated by Riot, the deals are based heavily on playstyle. Likely factors include champion type, lane, and role. They might also check data for previous skin theme purchases, or what types of champions you skin the most. The goal for this promotion is obviously to get people to spend some RP (and thus money), but merely focusing on your main champions would be very shortsighted. After all, pigeonholing you to your existing pool limits purchase options. By offering you champions (and skins) similar to your existing playstyle, they are encouraging you to branch out to possibly unfamiliar champions that you statistically may enjoy. Having more champions unlocked also creates more future sales potential for them since each champion has its own pool of alternate skins. To those people claiming that being offered skins for champions they don't currently play is an example of coding error: It's not. That isn't spaghetti code. That's marketing. There may have been coding errors responsible for the shop's delay, but that's a different issue.

If you want feedback, and this is only my opinion, maybe base sales more on recently played champs, for example you have a Darius skin sale for a player who goes top most of the time and owns darius but he liked to play him before the rework, now he hates new darius and ignores the sale. By basing it off recently played champs or champs who are played similarly that would make players at least a little bit more likely to spend their RP on the skins.

I got repeated champions twice. 2 lee skins 2 TF skins, not only do I own skins for both of them already, I hate playing lee.

Going to write out all my thoughts here.

First, I really like the idea behind the shop. Getting personalized offers feels really neat and makes me want to play and spend more.

Now then. I REALLY think their needs to be some deterrents on what skins make it through into your shop. For example, I got Prototype Viktor and Jurassic Cho'Gath in my shop. The problem is I already own Creator Viktor and Gentleman Cho'Gath : I don't want to spend extra RP (and thus money) to get a downgraded skin for a champion I already have amazing skins for. Adding on to this, my shop was 3 top lane champion skins, 1 top/mid, and 1 mid lane. That fits my roles I play and enjoy well. Then there was 1 support role champion despite me being someone who has never gone support happily except a few times on aggressive supports like Leona. And the skin is for a passive support who's main playstyle is sitting behind the carry and pressing W for heals every now and then.

Adding onto the above is that 2 of the skins in my shop are sidegrades: they aren't improvements on a skin I already own (like going from Outback to Scorched Earth/Pool party) but they aren't downgrades either (going from Scorched Earth/Pool Party to Outback). It's just some slightly discounted skins that don't offer anything extra to what I already have.

So overall I like the idea behind the shops, but at some point in their it messed up and offered discounts on things I would never be interested in getting anyway. Also, my friend got Dreadknight Garen in his shop which frankly seems like something that should never happen.

they appear to be all random. I got 2 Darius skins, Gangplank, Teemo, and Ezreal. That 4 top lane skins, and top lane is my LEAST played role. I hate it up there lol. I play jungle, support and ADC the most. And the last time I played Ezreal was when the AP jungle item was OP on him in lane.

I got 2 sales on Garen skins. I may play some champs similar to Garen, but I hate Garen, and it doesn't help that you gave me sales on(in my honest opinion) his 2 worst skins. So if you really wanted to make money, you might not want to give somebody 1/3 of their skins for a champ they really don't like :/

Honestly, I don't really understand why I got no more utility mage skins. I mean, I don't play top very often, in fact I'm terrible at it. But I ended up getting Nasus and Fiora skin options. Upon learning that It was focused more on playstyle, I'm surprised I didn't get Karma, Nami, Sona, Veigar, or Leona in my options.

I was pretty disappointed with mine. I got Elderwood Bard (-30%), Sabretusk Sejuani (-30%), Noxus Hunter Anivia (-40%), Steel Legion Garen (-60%), Dreadknight Garen (-70%), and Molten Rammus (-20%). While I do play a lot of Bard and Sejuani, and a fairly large amount of Anivia, none of these are skins I'm interested in.

What's worse, among the two legacy skins on sale, Noxus Hunter Anivia is actually on sale, right now, for 50% off! And Molten Rammus will be on sale for 50% off two days after this sale ends. If I had bought either of those, it would feel really awful to see them elsewhere on sale for more off so soon, or worse still, at the same time!

I'm really not sure why I got two Garen skins here. I almost never play top lane, and when I have, I've played Tahm Kench and Irelia far more than I've played Garen there. I play a lot of Bard and Anivia, so it's probably not thinking that I favor relatively easy champions either. Where did those recommendations come from?

The algorithms could also stand to consider my skin-buying habits. This year, I have primarily purchased 1350 RP skins. I overwhelmingly purchase skins with particle or sound changes. Three of the skins in my shop have neither. Moreover, it's weird that the system doesn't take into consideration the fact that within the last couple weeks, I opted not buy Elderwood Bard when it was on sale for the skin pricing policy change sale.

I agree with Lord Dusteon that this is a good idea. But the implementation here is poor. I'm not getting skins I'm interested in, and what's worse, I'm not even getting a good deal!

Well I don't want to be rude or sound like a crybaby but my offers are terrible (first time posting on boards and I am already complaining). I got 2 skins for Veigar whom i regretted buying because he doesnt fit my playstyle (i have 4 Veigar matches in total). 2 skins for Nasus whom I havent played in months since I found top-laners I like more (Gangplank) Striker Lucian which is his worst skin. The only good deal I have is on Syndra that includes Queen of Diamonds into the price of buying her. I was really happy when I heard about the shop, and I was hoping it would be awesome, but this is just terrible, I don't want to buy any of those. Also I know that I am not forced to buy them, and this was an act of kindness done for the first time, but I am sad because i was hoping for better skins.

Well I play AD juggernauts and sometimes assassins. One Talon skin, one darius skin which I main, two pee sin skins, and a random shaco skin.

I absolutely LOVE this new format. I only bought one of my sales, but I think it's REALLY cool that they were entirely catered to my playstyle. Would LOVE to see this in the future. Far more likely to buy skins in this way.

My major feedback is

Limit it to 1 skin per champion

This way no one gets a random double of champions they don't play. (My case Teemo AND Jinx got double)

Tell me about it. I got two Anivia skins, two Leona skins, and two Gangplank skins. All champions that I already have skins for.

What's worse to me is three of those skins are 750 and below, so I kinda feel like I got a load of nothing.

My sister played a lot with Blitzcrank and got Arcade Blitzcrank on the shop but the only skin from him she likes is i blitzcrank. She used to play a lot with ekko and got the student ekko skin but she hates it, she already has his other skin. She recently played a lot with ziggs and got master arcanist ziggs wich she hates and christmas zigg wich she really liked and wants to buy now. But she doesn't have Ash and doesnt like her and got 2 skins of her. Is it because you guys know what do we do on internet and got to know that she likes steven universe? (She got amethyst ashe, that would be creepy, though) or is it because on her first account Ashe was the first champion she got? (Though she abandoned that account a long time ago) or is it because I, her sister who has ash and amethyst ashe skin as well play on the same pc as her which is the only pc in the house (wich means we hardly play together) and you tought we are a single person with smurf accounts? Btw:

Some peopple said they got the same offerts on all of their accounts, some even say that happened even if those accounts are on different servers or that they have different champion pools on those accounts. some say different peopple who are friends and opened the shops on the same pc got the same offerts, does that mean the launcher recognizes as smurf accounts every account played on the same pc? Becuse that scares me a lot me and my sister play on the same pc and she opened her shop and I really disliked her offerts, now Im too scared to open the launcher on this pc. Does the fact that we use summoner spells on inverse keys count as deciding we are different peopple and not smurf accounts of the same person? Or the fact tht recently we had a chance to play together because someone lended us his laptop?

I'd like to just say that it seemed almost random. It included things such as Akali which I didn't play even once in a ranked game this year. I played it probably one time in a bot game for a quick win of the day. That's it. Yet somehow the algorithm decided to throw that in among others I haven't played in a real game in an eternity. One out of six was a champion I play, and it didn't even give me a reasonable discount for that one.

So I guess my feedback is, if you guys are ever going to do something like this, analyze what the person usually plays so it isn't ruined like it was in my case where I played a few bot games in the off season for quick wins of the day.

The 400 RP that used to be handed out during Christmas would have been far better than being offered discounts on skins for champs I don't play. That tactic to generate sales is likely to be more effective than randomness. How many people actually got offers for something they wanted? I'm legitimately curious to see the sales numbers.

Based on what I have gather from rioter comments. The Akali skin may have been decided by other champs you play for instance if you play other assassins (especially AP assassins like Ekko) you will have an increased for all assassin like champions not just Akali for instance if you play a lot of Malphite then you may see skins for other AP scaling tanks like Maokai Nautilus . Hope I helped shed some light on things.

I've played kassadin 3 times or so in the last month, and leona like twice (and I bought her recently I think). Why am I getting them on sale instead of say, Nocturne or Zed whom I spammed like crazy. I also don't understand why skins below 500 rp are going on sale, they'de sort of not worth the special snowdown deal.

getting a 20% off deal feels insulting. Why would you waste one of my slots on this? Its not like its a drop or something, I still have to pay for these skins, so why would you do that? Feels like a trap. Better to wait for them to go on normal sale. Normal sale price should be a minimum discount for these to not feel like a trap.

I know of people who were offered legacy skins that are going in sale, namely Almost prom king amumu at a 40% discount, which is going on a 50% discount on december 20

I like the idea of the store, it's pretty cool. My problem is that I got 2 Naut skins (Abyssal and Warden) both of which are downgrades to Astronautilus which I already own, 2 Gragas skins (Vandal and Scuba) of which I already own Superfan, Cryo brand which is a big downgrade from Zombie Brand which I also already own and Cutthroat Graves of which I already own Riot Graves...

So ultimately my disappointment is that all the skins I got were for champs I already had skins for and that for two champs I was given 2 skins each. I wish I got skins for champs I didn't play like others have, at least then there'd be something different for me. :S

If you do this shop again I feel that you shouldn't get multiple skins for the same champion and that the system should at least try to avoid champions that you already have skins for.

On the plus side it got my most recent roles pretty dead on (in fact I play heaps of Gragas and Naut and also used to do heaps of Brand when I could get mid) so that was nice.

Just wanna start off by saying I'm not complaining about the sales I got, I wasn't really planning on buying any of them unless by slim chance I got Cosmic Reaver Kass on it. That being said, I'm a bit skeptical about the accuracy of these playstyle based picks.

Three of the six sales I got make little sense.

To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, here are my top 6 played champions: Shaco Ziggs Karma Bard JarvanIV Zyra .

The skins I got were for Shaco Ashe Volibear Yasuo TahmKench JarvanIV

Of those three, Shaco and J4 make a ton of sense, and Voli has a similar enough playstyle to J4 to make sense, but Tahm, Yasuo, and Ashe just straight up don't.

First off, Yasuo: I had a brief spell of playing yasuo top lane a few months ago, short of that I haven't touched the champion since his release. The champions I play don't reflect his playstyle at all, he's a fighter with high damage and mobility. I play little to no mobility mages, kiting supports, mobile assassins, and nearly full tank J4. I'm just not seeing Yasuo as a good match for this, but of these three this is the least confusing one.

On to Tahm Kench: Immobile tank support. The only tank I play is J4, who is highly mobile. You guys keep saying how easy it is to kite Tahm Kench and that's why his damage is so high, I'm sure the last thing used to describe J4 is 'easily kited'. Completely different playstyles.

And finally, the one that makes absolutely no sense at all, Ashe: I veeerry rarely play ADC, like at all. Sometimes when I'm forced to go bot lane as the 'marksmen' position, I'll play AP Ziggs instead because that's how much I hate ADC as a class. That being said, occasionally I'll break out Ezreal when I think Ziggs won't work in the comp. I've gotta say, Ezreal is probably the closest thing to opposite of Ashe as you can get. Ashe is immobile, has a ton of cc, and doesn't really have much poke or adequate burst from her spells. Ezreal is mobile, has no CC at all, and is completely poke and burst oriented. I just don't get it.

My suggestions would be either don't make doubles or allow a reroll or 2.

I got 2 doubles and while one of them I will get both, the other was garbage and I don't want either. Would be nice if their discount% and skin could be rerolled. At worst its another skin I don't want and just don't buy, at best its a skin a like and I will buy. Seems a win win for Riot.

Don´t give small dicounts to skins that´ll be on discount for 50 % in the same or next month anyway.
"Playstyle" should only be restricted to ranked play. Here are my offers:

El Tigre Braum 30 %
Molten Rammus 30 %
Lil Slugger Trundle 50 %
Lumberjack Sion 50 %
Re gifted Amumu 70 % (a shame to get 70 % on a skin thats only worth 520 RP)
Yellow Jacket Shen 20 %

Out of those 6, I played Braum and Sion in ranked. I played Rammus when he was op, Amumu when I want to have fun in normals, and Shen... well only when I reall don´t want to know what to pick.

Don´t give skin-offers if we already own a skin of that champ.

Aside from that it´s a cool idea, but I don´t see me buying any of those...

El Tigre Braum. I dislike the skin, and already own dragonslayer.
Molten Rammus. I already own glacial Rammus.
Lil Slugger Trundle. I like trundle, a lot, but I didn´t buy a skin from him in all that time. Why? Because I don´t like his skins. Not a single one of them.
Lumberjack Sion. Already own warmonger.
Re-gifted Amumu. Worst skin for Amumu, and I already own pharao and emumu.
Yellow Jacket Shen. Already own surgeon Shen.

I really liked the idea of getting champions on sale according to our play styles , but my one major problem was the fact that only one or two of the skins ever exceeded the amount of the normal weekly skin sales, so in theory, it is just not worth it to buy any of the skins except for ones that are 50, 60,or 70% off because you could just wait a little and get that skin that was 20% off for 50% off.

I posted a thread in story and art, but my feedback is basically this: I received a small discount on a legacy skin for my main. It never even occurred to me that the skin would go on scheduled sale later. After I found out that it was going on a scheduled sale for cheaper than my custom sale price, I felt cheated.

I strongly feel that if a player has a skin in their choices that is going to be on sale at any point during the event, then their skin should at least match the upcoming sale discount. Otherwise, people who get excited and buy it right away will feel bad when they realize they could have had a better deal if they just ignored their personal shop.

My shop is baffling, as I main Top lane, and usually support otherwise, and my shop is 3 Veigar, 1 Tristana, 2 Caitlyn. I never play Caitlyn, not more than twice a year. I tend to play Tristana when I adc, but it's not often. I've played about 5 games of Veigar, all recent, because I saw Froggen play him well on stream.

It just seems to be a few champs I played 0-5 games on recently, and almost a complete mismatch for my style and play habits.

I think this is a really nice idea. Although I got 2 panth skins (I don't intend to own or play panth) the other ones were good for me so I can't complain :) Also the animations to reveal what each skin was were so perfect, kudos to the ui/animation people who did that!
