Riot did mention that they have no intention in changing the name of their players from "summoners." Just because the lore is being reworked doesn't mean the terms are being reworked as well.

The Summoner's Code is really important to keep this game enjoyable for the people who play it and it should be taken seriously by everyone. Even if you disagree with the new lore changes, the code is important to follow.
