can I still play ranked, even if ranked rewards are locked?

reason I ask is because I've played a day of normals, thinking there is no point to ranked anymore. Boy, I couldn't have been more wrong. Half my games are snowballing teams just wrecking face. People lose lane hard and continue to feed, and then they want to blame the jungler because I can't right the ship for them. It isn't even a victorious enemy JG half the time. It's just them losing lane hard and feeding.

In ranked, people pay attention, they're careful, and they build decent items for the situation. In normals, it's who can build damage quicker and hopefully snowball instead of feed. This is a problem because 1 or 2 teammates playing with this philosophy can ruin the game for the rest of us.

You can still play Ranked. Like you said, the rewards are locked in now and changing rank won't hurt or help, but your MMR will change and you're going to be using that MMR next season for your placement.

If you're near the bottom of your tier, I suggest trying to raise it up. The MMR soft reset could place you in the next tier down if you're too close, and nobody wants to have to go through Tier promos again (if your MMR is good you can even get a higher rank than last season right off the bat!)

Ranked in preseason will not affect your rank. I believe it might affect your placement but you are not punished or rewarded for playing ranked in preseason.
