ATTN: Queue QQers

Dragonface··4 votes·797 views

For very obvious reasons, the queue is being throttled, and I will list them below;

  1. The servers were unstable, and as such, game quality was impacted (probably mass amounts of lag), therefore, they probably kicked the servers offline, rebooted them, and instigated queue status, as to help negate the lag.

  2. All the kiddies are getting home from school, so peak time is picking up right now. Therefore, if they let in 20000+ people all at once, the servers will be overloaded, and your games will lag so horribly that you'll be making "QQ why so much lag rito" threads instead.

  3. Lastly, there were bugs that needed to be worked out, and rather than completely take the servers down, Rito was at least nice enough to allow them to stay up while they worked on a live hotfix.

Agreed, yeah, Rito should probably try to fix their stuff BEFORE releasing patches to live, HOWEVER, that's not always possible.

TL;DR fixing server problems isn't as simple as "Turn it off, now turn it back on", stop QQing.

Edit - Your downvotes sustain me.

People who think they're "Riot Insiders" amuse me.

"12:38 PM Network Operations — Due to recent issues, there is currently a large login queue that will delay login times while it drains."

People who quote one thing and conveniently ignore others amuse me.

Login queue was intentional, however, the queue times going up rapidly was NOT intentional.

People who can't read timestamps amuse me. Also time itself proving me right amuses me more.

this guy (dragonface) trying to cover for a multi-billion dollar company who has a server specially for pre-releases. PBE is designed to work on patches before they are released live. So yes, they always have the chance to fix it before it is released. So the millions of people who are being affected right now do have a reason to QQ. Also, the ones that are QQing just want information as in why it's happening and when it might be resolved. Which is logical in their frustration.

PBE is a much smaller scale test environment, and as a person with experience with networking and coding, MANY things can go wrong from simply copying a code from one place to another, or 2 identical computers each running the same thing, but completely different. Consistency is an extremely difficult thing to create in the world of programming, and as such, all it takes is one tiny bug to throw a wrench in the whole thing, and boom, you have no idea what's going on.
