Dear Riot, my last few words to you
Dear Riot,
Hi, I am xArchangel, formerly known (and embarrassingly for a joke that I would never like this game) as prettyprincess37. I started this game at the end of season 3, playing Miss Fortune as my first champion, then Tryndamere, and then Ashe. My boyfriend loved this game, he had been playing it for almost a year and a half then. I thought I would never love it. But boy, was I wrong.
I remember the climb to 30. I remember spam clicking trying to pick Ashe and calling adc. Or I remember not getting adc and still going Ashe mid. Or going duo top. I loved League of Legends. I couldn't get my hands off of it.
I remember playing ranked for the first time, feeling like I might have enough skill to one day be pro. Got Bronze II. Cried a little. Climbed out to Silver. Finally, and painstakingly, to gold. Made it to low plat a few months ago after I had just gotten off a two week break.
I never played beta, or played SI and S2, or really S3 for that matter. My knowledge comes exclusively from Season 4, 5, and awfully, 6.
Riot, I want you to hear me, to hear the cries of THOUSANDS of other players. So that we can continue to give millions of players across the world a great game to play.
I played S4, and I remember Morgana support every game. I remember Feral Flare's entrance. Jinx made her appearance, and so did Lucian. Gosh, Lucian countered my Ashe so hard. I remember in Season 5 BEGGING you, Riot, to make Ashe better.
And you answered Riot, you answered.
I could not have thanked you enough for giving my main, who is seemingly always countered, some buffs to add her back in the meta. But that is the problem, dear Riot Game+s, that you are missing. What I want to share with you, dear Riot, is some of my concerns about this game,
I want this game to be extraordinary. That is why we, and me, and all of us complainers are on these boards. We want to be a part of the company we have supported for years now.
So, Riot, and players of the boards, if you will have me, I would like to share a few finals words.
Riot games, you created one of the most popular games in the world. You made eSports become the monster it is now. Your code and art and skill has made an everlasting impression on gamers. But where did it go wrong? Where did the corruption of money, to make the "AHHH!" LC$BIGPLAY moments, persuade you to throw away the player base? Why has the super complex, super mobile champions drove you to abandon the simpler champions, who you, dear Riot, have refused to allow to be viable?
What drove you Riot, to make the game play like a worse HotS, with your short games and your long death timers, and useless towers? What drove you to throw away the player base, to never take them seriously, when our wallets fill yours? Riot, I have loved the game you have created.
I ask that in my absence, you will utilize in-client polls that are not skewered or trickeries of a Ph.D in psychology. I ask that these polls drive your decisions, not hinder them. I ask that you look at making mobility be harder to play, for it lacks damage when compared to the steady pace of the champions who walk to places, not dash, and that these static champions be harder to kill than your LC$BIGPLAY champs, Riot. I ask that one day, ALL CHAMPIONS ARE VIABLE, AND THAT THE "SPOTLIGHT" MENTALITY FOR BALANCING IS GONE. ALL CHAMPIONS WERE CREATED THE SAME WAY, SO LET THEM BE PLAYED EQUALLY.
I have to walk away from you, Riot. I have to say goodbye. Whether its for good, or just a few months, or even two weeks, I hope that I can see you again. But as it stands, you continue to shove out champions without updating the rest. Soon, the champion pool will be overflowing with new specimens, too many to balance, and fear for the day when patch notes are 6 gigabytes of text about changes to all the champs.
I hope that we can talk more soon, I'll be waiting.
