What do you like about Mordekaiser? He's one of the champions in the game that never really made sense to me, even less so now after his "rework"
What is it about Mordekaiser (or you as a person) that allows you to stick with Morde despite Riot's treatment of him? I have lost favorite champions when Riot decided to shoe-horn them into a different role (Nidalee and Gragas became junglers, then were repeatedly nerfed), and haven't adjusted to their playstyle since. How have you been able to stick with Mordekaiser through everything?

Malicious Metal7 votesI love Mordekaiser's theme and character. He's League's version of Sauron, the quintessential Dark Lord character. He's the type of guy who doesn't need mobility or CC to beat you, he's coming for you and you better get the hell away from him. He's an unstoppable Juggernaut and him being affiliated to Metal is awesome.
Maybe I'm a masochist? Seriously though, it's more of me having been disappointed in how Riot treated Morde and his Playerbase. For them it would have been like any other rework, former mains moving on and newer ones finding interest in the reworked champion. I just couldn't let that happen, I found it kinda disrespectful of Riot to disregard the hardcore main's opinion on the matter and just couldn't sit by how one of my favorite champions got completely warped. Anyways, it was also due to me seeing the good thing the rework brought about, like solidifying Morde as a "Juggernaut" and hoping for Riot to smoothen all the rough edges. Coal getting turned into diamonds, even though that's more of Taric's shtick.

Malicious Metal2 votesI had the exact same problem, trying to build into my gunblade after Rylais. By Midgame, where you'll be building your second main item, teamfights are way more common and you're going to need a way to keep yourself alive long enough to lay down your damage.

I have been trying to go pure AP mid for the ult lulz, but it's been very difficult. I'm use to playing early Impact laners, and morde just cannot fight anyone early game. I simply poke and farm the best I can until mid game where the poor base stats don't mean as much.
Do you have any experience with this more Mage-focused morde style as of late, and do you have any advice? My current build is rush sorc boots, then rylai's, liandries, gunblade, ludens, then void staff. 18/12/0 masteries (taking death fire touch) with magic pen reds, flat armor yellows, scaling mr blues, and flat AP quints.
Malicious Metal2 votesWith MageMorde you're going to play a backline mage who counter engages when the enemy team tries to dive your backline. Try taking 18/0/12 instead for the increased regen, shields/heals as well as reduced summoner spell CD
Still, there's the option to maybe replace your void staff with a tanky option if the enemy doesn't stack a lot of MR. Maybe a Steraks will boost your survivability and damage output with your Q/E a tad without making the rest of your kit significantly weaker.

Malicious Metal2 votesYes, Boots are situational. My favorites are Sorcs though but depending on the matchup I might get Tabi, Mercs or Swifties.
If by copying me you mean trying to serve as a voice for that certain champion and player base. I personally think it's the best way to advocate changes and prompt meaningful discussion, it's less passive-aggressive and overall more professional to try and formulate decent arguments. There should be more people who try to keep things civil instead of making great Brand impersonations.

If he even gets 1 kill then he gets the ability to dive me when I'm at near full health, and trading with him doesn't feel like a good idea because he usually just E's when I E. And also, do you mind if I add you on my EUW account?
Malicious Metal2 votesAh fizz. I find it actually not that hard of a lane. You just need to poke him down whenever E's off cool down, it's an instant cast Aoe Zone he can't possibly avoid without extremely enough timing of his own E and it's got a way lower cool down than his Trickster.
Taking grasp of the undying and zoning him from the minions is also a solid strategy, him being melee and having to go in to cs. W a minion to get a heal from it whenever he tries to cs is advised.
No, I wouldn't mind at all.

Malicious Metal2 votesIt USED to be great on him in conjunction with a Steraks gage but ever since the Marksmen patch it's been rather gimpy on him. It simply offers too few of Morde's desired stats, no bulky health, no AP and no chunks of AD.
However, it does help with his kiting issues and the 330 damage sheen procs hurt like a B....
I personally think it's situational but works best in tankier builds where you rely more on the sheen procs than your other abilities.

Malicious Metal4 votesIt's a combination of his character, aesthetics, overall feel of the champ, his affiliation with Metal and him being the first champion I ever played.
I'd say he's in a decent spot if you invest some time into learning him. He has a very powerful late game and can carry hard when paired with a decent team that can provide engage and cc
It was a failure in a sense that they forced a champion into a role he's never been played in before while taking a dump on his solo lane. It was a great idea to try and promote a melee carry so that teams could take their marksmen jungle or top but they picked the wrong guy for that task. They should have released a champion fitted for that role instead of warping Morde's kit with unfair advantages up the ass.
3a) They failed at expanding on Morde's core themes and make him a true heavy Metal Juggernaut. Also, they should not have done this with an already existing champ.
3b) The idea was nice but the execution was a mess

) because this is what I tend to be building in my games, and I feel like I still do plenty of damage. I end up getting a ton of shield from every E because it scales with health, and between the ZZ'Rot and the Iceborn Gauntlet I can do a lot of work splitpushing.
Malicious Metal3 votesShort answer; E's more reliable. It has a low cool down, provides a burst of shield and doesn't fizzle when the minion on which his W latches on dies.
I think a DPS bruiser build's the way to go but Tank Morde does work decently well. I'd replace your Iceberg gauntlet with a Rylais though since it provides everything Mordekaiser needs. It's definitely a more utility/drain tank build and Morde is very versatile in terms of builds anyways.

Malicious Metal2 votesTo be completely honest, it does get boring from time to time so I just play something else for a game or two. But at the end of the day I'll come back to playing Mordekaiser.
It's mostly due to his design and play style resonating with me and me just loving to prove people wrong about these underrated champs.

Mid lane's highly matchup dependent so I can't give something higher than a solid six.
Both had their perks but I believe a "true" Juggernaut Morde would appeal to me more, seeing that I like playing tanky champs

Solo Lane Mordekaiser build's usually something like this;
If you were to play him in a duo lane you might want to swap your SV with a Rabbaddons or something more AP-centric.
