Starting To Believe The Conspiracy Theory In Regards To Win Streaks

Now, I'm being partially facetious here, I just want to point that out, as I don't ACTUALLY believe Riot purposely tries to make me lose, but I'm finding it annoying and coincidental regardless. I had been playing not the best a few games, I will be the first to admit that (I was playing sick, when I shouldn't have, but I thought I would be okay to play, and lost a few games in a row, so about 80% my fault), but I started feeling better, and suddenly I was rocking it.

Went on a 5 game win streak, and for at least 4 of those 5 games, I was a large contributing factor to get us ahead and keep us ahead. Was feeling awesome, and even made a few new in game additions to my friend list.

The following is a long, drawn out explanation of the stupidity that followed, so feel free to skip past to the tl;dr

And then the brick wall of "hahahahaha you are climbing are you?" hit me in the face with things that were so out of my control I almost afk'd in one game for the first time since I've started playing years and years ago.

I had just come off an awesome win, and went top again with Renek, which for some reason my mid laner hated, flaming me and anyone in champ select that disagreed (I wasn't talking just fyi). We get in game and he he typing in all caps and says "Don't care, you aren't winning", and proceed to start running top, flashing into my kled top, and flat out inting. He was going back mid and got a kill or two, then would come back top, and suddenly I'm staring at a 4/0 kled 3 levels ahead of me and I just start getting tower dove by him and his jungler, my support is flaming everyone, and the game obviously ends in a loss. No big deal, I was annoyed, but 1 game...

Next game, My adc and mid flat out BEG me to play MF support (I've done it plenty so sure) into Zyra. Well, little did I know, it was a first time Draven because he was playing on a friends account <_<, and he proceeds to start the game 0/10/1. He ended a whopping 5/15/5. (He went 2/12/1 in his next game on Draven as wwell, and he hasn't played a game sense so hopefully he dude got banned)

so we are 2 down and I'm like...well f me in the A. I log off. Log in today, first game of the day, holy shit I am wrecking lane. I start 3/0 against just my top, 4/0 as the jungler comes in to gank and dies, suddenly 5/0 as the top laner sees I am "low", and dies under tower. We lose, cause my mid laner gets angry and starts only split pushing as Swain, while dying to ganks, and my jungler starts inting in 1v3/4, every now and then he kills the support, but just does this over and over, till our support gets salty, and starts flaming and suiciding as well.

_In the first game right after my 5 game win streak, my jungler was on a 7 game lose streak (still hasn't won since), my mid laner was an inting troll, an adc that was duo with said 7 loss streak jungler (the adc duo'ing was why I was put with the jungler with a lower mmr) I shouldn't have been matched with as he was a bronze 2 with a 45% win, and a support with a 40% win rate, and only 30% in his last 20 games.

Why exactly am I being matched with these people? sitting at a 51% win rate, so it isn't like I'm losing all my games or anything.

So....the tl;dr is. while I don't believe necessarily that Riot flicks a switch to put me with worse people, it is rather annoying that I go on a 5 win streak with games I can carry, to 3 in a row with trolls, int feeders, flamers, which I had zero of on either team for about 6-7 games prior to that. As soon as I start climbing, I get people with in some cases, way lower mmr relative to our low rankings, people account sharing, and in at least one game and teammate on a pretty hefty loss streak just that day, and in multiple cases, people with below 45% win records.

It does seem a bit suspicious to go from fairly decent teammates, only 1-2 that were below 50% in 7 games, then suddenly if I get more than 3 in 3 games above 50%, it was only because of someone duo'ing pulling up the bad duo partners mmr. I can see why people might think there is actually a "mechanic" in place to punish you for going on win streaks.

Same thing happens to me, only i don't even get the luxury of "having a team mate".

Usually when the game is set on forcing me to lose, it throws multiple D/C-ers and AFK'ers.

The D/C person will constantly be reconnecting all match missing every single crucial team fight and never being there when we need them to, so they might as well be AFK.

And of course i'll get the magical AFK, and the retard team who gives first blood instantly so no rework.

Or i'll get the person who leaves half way through the match to go do something stupid. "friend just hit me up gtg" "gotta go get food" "gotta go shovel snow" etc etc.

I quit ranked because of it v.v Literally every single time i was doing amazing it would throw an AFK or a DC on my team. Every freaking time. And of course the enemy team makes sure to rub in my face that they are so much better than me even though it's 4vs5 and what team mates i do have are sub-par at best.

I lost too many important promo matches and placement matches just for not having a full fucking team. Screw that.

There are many reason for this: Btw. These are just my own experience and research.

First is mindset, when your winning a lot feels good right? That's because our mind goal has been done "winning" is the goal. We all love winning it gives ecstacy. Now here's the problem our brain is becoming unaware of the game and it's not focusing as it does when you started having win streaks. Our mind is aware that we're away from tilted so losing this match won't matter. I keep noticing this by watching pants are dragon, a utuber who has goal to reach rank one. Whenever his in a win streaks after 10 games i can see his performance is decreasing and went lose streaks after that. Weird right? (Who knows i might be wrong) but that's why keeping good attitude is important no matter how tilted you are, never rage. Even challenger gets tilted and lose a lot but don't compare ourselves to them. They are challengers they know how to comeback.

The second might make sense better. This is my own research btw.

Every ranked game i played, i always keep an eye to my team and enemy mmr and also their match history. When i went win streaks just like you did. I noticed something. When you started winning a lot the match making will place you with lower mmr team againts a bit higher mmr team more often. Reason? I couldn't think any real reason tbh but it sort of a test imo. It's kinda unfair right? Now here's what i found out. If you win that game when the enemy team has higher mmr than you. You'll gain more mmr and if you lose however you'll lose "just less". What if we lose againts lower? Well when you lose againts lower mmr team you will lose more mmr (this is the part when matchmakingq gives tilted player you keep losing over and over).

This is probably the reason if we keep losing we lose more lp but if we win more we're started to gain more lp. But why though? Why winning a lot will gain more lp? That's probably because match making is trying its best to balance by gaining more lp from player who's keep winning, by helping them to reach their peak mmr. That's why a challenger smurf skip so many division. Losing in the other hand simply means your already reach your peak mmr. As i said whenever this happened always keep good attitude and improve. How about those just really bad and tilted teammates? It's not new. It happened. Some of these player are good just like you just having a bad time. It happened to me a lot. When our top was playing yasuo he fed the enemy team and our teammates is flaming at him. I was the only one who still trust in him and i said yas... Mute them we owe the late game. Guess what ? He carried late game and he's actually really good and even made plays. I do these to a lot more player and it can actually increase win rate(more comeback). Imagine if i flamed that yasuo we would have lose.

I'll end it here by saying matching making q isn't always perfect. Learning to deal or adapt will help. Having bad team isn't new, improving is something new. That will help you in the future to pleasure you ^^ keep calm and keep up the good attitude.

Gl in solo q~

The way their matchmaking system is done is godawful

I was playing in 3's (Twisted Treeline) ranked and was getting some wins in a row and all of a sudden I start getting teammates that pick a champ (Poppy) and then once we're about to spawn minions, they ask "What's the first spell to get on this champ" and in my mind I'm thinking "Holy fuck why are you in ranked if you're picking a champ that you don't know what to do with" and apparently they were still super new because they kept saying that armor doesn't counter a zed, AP does.

Not only that but I also get matched against a Lee Sin that was apparently plat last season.... and I'm bronze. I'm goddamn bronze 1 trying to climb and hit silver.... and I'm getting matched with teammates that seem to be worse as I go along and against opponents that are way more experienced than what I should have to be fighting. this isn't how you match people riot. You match people that are slightly better bit by bit, on BOTH teams. slightly better people to have to play against to see if I should be moving forward, and ALSO slightly better people on my team that are also trying to move forward, not suddenly adding this inch-thick steel plate wall in front of my face that you want me to punch through with my bare hands and say "ok so you've been winning a bit.... so here's a test to see if you deserve to be winning and climbing."

Like...if you're playing well and winning, then you should be climbing and being put against people where your skill currently is. Ranking shouldn't be this absurd constantly exponentially increasing difficulty after each win, it should be a slope of steady increments in difficulty, not a curving slope that takes a concave shape to the point where you are climbing upside down and sent the other way after climbing a bit.
