Where is the Support for Riot?
Long post, sorry.
Yes, Riot games has made some mistakes. There are things that frustrate me. Sometimes, I really question what on earth they were thinking when they made a decision. With that being said however, Riot games is getting a LOT more hate then they deserve.
So many board discussions, so many messages in the in-game chat, so many Reddit posts all talking about how Riot is awful and this champion isn't balanced, or this type of queue sucks, or this player didn't get banned, etc.
Think about everything they do correctly. They balance champions pretty well. Yes, there are more powerful champions then others, but there is no way Riot could completely balance 123 champions so that each one is perfectly equal. With all the variables such as, items, masteries, runes, and new/evolving play styles, I believe it is simply impossible to have each champion equal in power. (I don't mean attack power or anything, when I say power I mean usefulness to a team. Balanced.)
Also, let the company try some things. Not everything is perfect and Riot games has in the past come out and said we made a mistake with this nerf/buff, we are reverting it. To fully test whether something would work or not would take a MUCH longer time in the PBE. That means that no changes would be made for long periods of times, and I guarantee people would complain if that was the case.
Out of all the champions, all the items, all the runes and all the masteries, really only a handful at a time are complained about. This means that for a large majority of the things, people don't have an issue with them. Also, there will always be someone who just doesn't know how to play against someone. Personally, I have no clue how to lane against twitch. This leads to people posting how (Using twitch as an example) twitch is op. He's not, you just have to learn how to deal with him.
People complain about toxic communities, but I ask how do you expect Riot to fix??? Yes, I think their report system could use a little more work, and yes, there is nothing more frustrating than joining a game with someone you just reported, but in the end, Riot can't do anything. Yes, they can ban, yes they can suspend, but that's a band-aid solution. I hear people saying Riot, fix toxicity. ???? How on earth is Riot supposed to fix that? Send someone to watch over everyone while they play league, and turn off his computer when he is toxic? Toxicity is a player problem. Yes Riot can put a band-aid over the issue, but that's all they can do. That's all any gaming company can do. Toxicity never really leaves, companies just try to remove as much as possible. As the most played video game in the world, you're bound to experience more toxicity.
Dynamic vs Solo queue... I'm scared to touch this one. xD Honestly, I am not taking any sides on this one because both queues have pros and cons. Riot right now thinks Dynamic is better. We can't force them to think another way, just as Riot can't force people to stop being toxic. There is no right or wrong answer to this, as far as MY experience has gone, for every person who likes dynamic, there is someone who likes solo.
There are so many other things but I already wrote to much. :) It comes down to trust. I trust Riot games to make the best decisions possible for League of Legends itself, and it's players. But people are people. They will make mistakes. But I KNOW Riot games is not run by idiots who don't have a clue as some people have said. Personally, I think League is going through a re-design. Lots of things are changing at a fast pace. Unfortunately, it's hard for old players to adapt and see things that they've grown to love and get comfortable with suddenly disappear. But it's the same with any re-design. Often times, things get worse to get better. I believe that Riot games has a set vision for this game and are working towards it. The players only see one ability, but Riot see's the entire kit. (Dang, I gotta admit that sounded pretty poetic xD)
Yes, Riot makes mistakes and will continue to do so, but as far as I'm concerned, Riot games gets a crap ton more right than they do wrong. As the players, we just have to be patient, trust in Riots vision and decision making, trust in Riot to take responsibility and admit if they have done something wrong, and enjoy the game. And it wouldn't hurt anyone a bit if you threw out some toxicity while you were at it. :)
Tell me your thoughts and opinions! I'm always open to new arguments/ideas/thoughts and have no issues with being proven wrong.
