Say a game gets into a really toxic quagmire where someone goes into the "I'm gonna come to your place and XXXXXX" zone. And then say the person making that threat actually gives out the real-life address information of the person he's threatening.

Why are you asking the impossible? To actually guess someones actual home address is maybe 1 in 1 trillion billion.
Their are over 3000 counties in the USA. Then their are over 20,000 cities and that does not include sub cities or rural expanses. Then how many fucking streets exist in the united states with X numbers.
So lets be honest, Riot would not do a damn thing. Cause if this event ever happened it a stupid prank being pulled by someone on someone else.

Funny enough, this happened like in reverse to my boyfriend. Some guy was talking shit to him saying he was going to come to his house and rape me and shit, so what does my bf do?** Give out our fuking address**. Yeah he wanted to meet the dude to see what would happen. Long story short, of course dude never comes. But get who gets a PERMANENT BAN. My boyfriend. Simply because he gave out his real life address. When I read the email, I was like.....LOL. Don't ban the person making the threats, ban the person that challenged him back. Makes perfect sense.
But anywho, I have no clue what happened to the other guy, but since this fell into the same realm (kinda), I thought i'd add to the discussion. Pretty sure you'd just get hit with a perma ban just for giving out ANY real address and getting reported for it. Other than that, I doubt they would do anything at all.
the supreme court recently made a ruling that the jist of is online death threats are not real without showing the mind of the defendant is serious....displaying the person's home address after making such a threat would seem to me at least to be showing credible threat...
Riot's ability to intervene would (I imagine) pretty much be limited to taking it as a complaint and suspending or banning the account of the aggressor, but the question of something like "Police intervention" is outside of their jurisdiction. Riot Games is a private corporation, they aren't law enforcement; whether or not police could or would take any action would completely depend on the police agency in question.
In this hypothetical situation, the 'victim' of the threat would need to contact their local police department and determine how they handle these sort of statements. There are legal ways of obtaining someone's address (and plenty of illegal ones), but simply saying "I know where you live" may or may not be considered a criminal act depending on the location.
And then it would depend on the circumstances of the threats and the police agencies involved - if the aggressor and the victim are in different countries (a very real possibility on an international game like League), then the aggressor may be outside of the police agency's jurisdiction to take any kind of intervention. Unless someone actually showed up at the house of the 'victim' I doubt anything would come of it.
This is speaking as a police & ems dispatcher. In our state, this likely wouldn't qualify as Harassment, and even if it did, likely would not get past the DA's office to prosecution.
