Learn the difference between harassment and directing.

In this thread, I'll explain to you what the difference between "harassment" and telling you where you should be.

A great example is my past few games.

If it's time for 5v5s and you're in your lane farming when 5 are pushing mid, were I harassing you, I'd say something along the lines of "f-ing idiot get mid wtf ur so bad"

HOWEVER, directing you is this "Ashe come mid we need you, you haven't been with us for a while"

I've been reported so much for simply telling people what they're doing wrong, and Riot tries to tell me that their system is infallible and will only punish those who are toxic. How is directing my team, and my team getting mad at me, toxic?

It seems to me that these type of reports are usually more related to how you direct people rather than that you are directing them. Some no doubt don't take kindly to advice period but really they are under no obligation to listen to you and there's nothing to really say that you are even correct.

You question the punishment system but you only mention being reported not actually being punished. So have you actually been punished or are you just worried about being punished?

"you haven't been with us for a while" that right there is what makes people take offence. It's an unnecessary add on and the fact that you used it in an example shows you don't understand what you're doing wrong. Something more along the lines of "Ashe please group mid" is better to say, because it's polite and undemanding. Remember that people in league easily take offence to things, especially when they're playing badly, so you need to do your best to be nice.

i bet my dinner (which is gonna be delish) that your "Ashe come mid we need you, you haven't been with us for a while" sounded more like "scrub level adc, never in teamfights, noob afk farming, reprot, stay in bronze"
