Is this the way it is in other Divisions

Gold IV vs Gold V

It should be like this:

Bronze IV vs Bronze IV

Gold III vs Gold III

Platinum II vs Platinum II

Bronze is the worst there will be no way out of any Bronze..

You are actually placed against people of the same MMR. MMR is a hidden ranking system that takes your win loss ratio and places you against others of the same skill level. The reason for that, is you may get someone who gets carried by a friend into gold, but then solos after that. He loses OVER AND OVER AND OVER, but because you can't lose a color, he will always be Gold V. Now because he actually belongs in silver III, it would not be fair to keep putting him against people he doesn't belong with, so they have the hidden system of MMR. So whenever you go up against a Plat or Gold or whatever, it usually means they don't belong where they are.

The current ranking system doesn't make a lot of sense, to be honest. Your Tier/Division placement (e.g. Bronze IV or Gold II) has very little impact on your MMR, which is what matches you with allies and opponents. In a perfect scenario the two are roughly linked to each other, but normally you end up with small deviations from your Division. Sometimes if someone's improved dramatically very quickly it can even be an entire Tier of deviation.

I got placed in bronze 4 from silver 3 after winning 6-4 placements and (yes i checked lolnexus) having a mmr rating of "normal" for my league. Got out in 2 weeks, if you are in bronze (excluding bronze 1) you belong in bronze.
