The Self-Serving Bias- League of Legends from a Psyche Major's viewpoint

so this week in my college psyche class we are studying the self and one of the focuses is self-serving bias.

this stood out to me as something I could post on here to help people who feel like they aren't climbing and its because of "bad teammates". Sure, we all have our moments where we want to blame our team. and sometimes our team is legitimately the reason. but more often than not. there's more you could've done. and you could have carried if you had been better. this is how you get better. admitting you are the reason for your failures. and not outside sources.

for those of you who do not know what the self serving bias is, it is essentially how the human mind protects itself. You do this to keep your self esteem high as it is important to be confident and happy. You basically attribute all good things that happen to you to yourself, and all bad things that happen to you, to outside sources. This is honestly pretty bad for any form of progress or self growth so its good to be self aware that it is actually a thing. this is not "uncommon" or "only in certain individuals". pretty much everyone has this inherently on some scale. But the more aware of it you are, the more you can try to disregard your self-serving bias and improve in life.

For league, this applies to practicing and seeking out advice and getting help to get better rather than just faulting your low elo baddie teammates. (even if they truly are bad)
