How does someone get into the Software Engineering industry?

I have been looking into the career for the past few days and am quite interested in it and the goal would be to work in the games industry or something along those lines. Anyone with relevant experience about getting started or works @ riot with insight about school programs would be appreciated.

Start studying at a local college -> apply for internship -> finish some sort of relevant degree -> enter high paying industry

A good amount of colleges now offer courses in computer programming. That is where you would start. You should stick to C++ courses if they offer more specialized courses that involve a specific programming language like Java, Adobe flash, or C++.
