@RiotOpeli and the Rest of the Narrative Team: Thanks

OK, I don't think this gets said a lot...so here's a post dedicated to that!

I'm not particularly happy about the lore changes (like what appears to be quite a few of the forum users). I'm very disappointed that the Summoner is not a "real concept" any more, that SR looks to be turned into some SSB kind of thing, and that the client's lore has been shaved down to a tiny tiny little piece of text. I’m crestfallen that the Institute of War sadly doesn’t exist anymore. That was the entire reason I joined.

A lot of the other threads on this subject have covered my displeasure on this topic (and argued it far better than I ever could), so I’m not going to touch on that.

What I do respect is the fact that the player base has had information on how stuff is changing. I can respect that Riot has at least tried to do that. While the dev blog IMO backfired massively and the lore is going in a direction I don’t like, I can at least respect that Riot is reaching out to us as players and trying to state what they are doing. In short, I hate what they’re doing, I don’t hate them.

Even more so, even though it took at least a week, we’re actually getting Riot responses to our concerns. They’re unmistakably defending what is IMO a misstep, but at least I can read their opinions and defenses and say, “OK, I disagree with that, but I see where you’re coming from.”, rather than have to basically deal with a monolithic piece of text that is basically saying “this is where we’re going with this, deal with it”.

Many of the Rioter responses to these threads are well-developed and try to address our own concerns about where the game is headed. While I’m not too happy with how some of the responses are panning out (i.e. gameplay and story are basically segregated), and think that some of the solutions posed by the player base are just amazing, the Narrative team doesn’t really deserve to be down voted into oblivion/get attacked on a personal level just because we don’t agree with what they’re doing.

(People may argue that that’s what a down vote is supposed to do; it’s supposed to be a disapproval of opinion. I respectfully disagree with that perspective; I think that if something is well thought out and adds to the discussion, it should get an upvote.)

So, tl;dr? Thanks, Riot Opeli, Riot Runaan, Tommy Gnox, Carnival J, MUERTE TIME, and the rest of the Narrative Team. You’ve done a bit to try and win the player base back. You’ve tried to reach out and interact with us, even through a lot of hate. And while I don’t love you for the changes, I can respect you guys for starting. After all, starting is probably the hardest part.

Dunno, that would feel like thanking someone for not taking too big of a dump on my desk...If they would actually communicate with the dedicated lore-fans, but all we got had been some kind of announcement on what they want to do and that´s that. No reasoning whatsoever.
