How exactly can you skip an entire division?

I'm currently on my grind to platinum and just finished my gold three promos. And instead of being placed in Gold three I was actually put into Gold two.

Not that I'm complaining, I'm just wondering what the perquisites for skipping divisions are.

On a related note; Stop flaming me for picking Morde -.-'' You can call my pick trash and me losing the game in champ select when we actually lose and not when I pick my bloody main. Besides, you'll look like a dumbass when I dominate my lane and actually contribute a lot to my team (Looking at you 12/11/3 Blue build EZ)
