Can someone explain the tyler1 thing that has been going around?
I don't watch streamers so I never knew him, but everyone is very hurt about his ban. What did he do?

Nobody outside of his early teen viewers is hurt about this ban. The guy was an extremely toxic and popular streamer who had 18+ accounts perma banned. Riot decided he was never going to reform so they have essentially stated any future account played by him will be banned on the spot.
The ban was justified, 99.99% of people are happy about it.
He was very known for being toxic, after alot of time he has reformed and shown as such, but the community wont allow that perspective. He's proven to stand against constant hate and be banned while other big name players have shown to be equally as toxic yet nothing has been done to them.
He apparently had 19 accounts permabanned, was known as the most toxic high elo player, finally got lifetime banned. Only surprising thing is how long it took, entertaining or not this guy ruined a ton of games for people.
Not everyone. It's his supporters that are hurt, the announcement thread was shown on his stream before he closed his twitch. That thread also has 2k+ upvotes.

Tyler1 is a Diamond Draven one-trick who gained an audience for his behaviour, a combination of his supporter who liked his "personality" you saw downvoting the RiotSocrates thread or people who came to be entertained by his "childish" behaviour and outbursts.
He would rage and insult others, threaten violence, quit the game if he died too many times (as little as twice), would threaten players with feeding if they didn't do what he instructed and would throw games intentionally feed if players on his team did something he didn't like. He even threatened a player on his team who was an obvious rioter that he would troll/feed if they picked a support champion he didn't want. Some estimate he has had as many as 20 accounts banned.
Also, some fans have been saying that he was reformed and saying that it's not fair due to others players tyler1 personally didn't like (hence the threads "demanding" Meteos be banned).
His most recent account, "unreformed kys" also intentionally fed and harassed other players.
