playing without runes or masteries is hell

I made a new account, which I have not done since like early 2013, and I forgot how hard the game is without runes or masteries. I was playing top lane irelia, and from runes and masteries I get about 25 more armor (even more if I get cloth armor), and I get a decent amount of hp and MR as well. On this new account, I have non of that, so auto attacks from even ap champs hurt like a bitch. 3 auto attacks from anyone and I lose like close to half my hp. every auto attack I take I cringe because it hurts so much ]:::

just thought I would share this, because I wish I was able to buy tear 3 runes at lvl 1 /:

Meh.

I played for two years using some crappy T2/T3 secondary runes that was Atk Speed/AD/Health REG and I survived.

That is how riot is passive aggressively telling u not to smurf lol

How would you feel if you are new and knows NOTHING about the game, the masteries, the runes or even the champions you are playing and you are matched against someone who knows the mechanics of the champions, knows the set of runes and masteries to take, and knows how to farm. You will get destroyed without even the slight chance of winning.

How is that fun for anyone?

Yea i made a smurf account a while ago and it really is annoying to not have your full runes/mastery pages. Especially in some rolls like tanks and ESPECIALLY junlgers. Its hard to push a meta for junglers and provide a healthy learning curve for junglers when without full runes/masteries. I can't tell you the number of time I died using traditional junglers (without sustain) because I'm not use to being that weak. While its a minor problem in the grand scheme of things, I think it has more implications of actual new players than anything.

Like I said its hard to provide the best experience when you have sub par strength. Especially when runes/masteries overall have little impact when you get them lvl by lvl. You don't feel the real impact of that extra 1 AD from the Damage Marks gaining them 1 lvl at a time. You feel them when you go from 0 to a full page. Same goes for masteries you really have a hard time gauging the difference in overall power of each mastery when you only get them 1 at a time. If Riot even implemented a system that gave them in like sets of 5 you could actually feel like you were accomplishing something. Even looking at the first Mastery in the Offense tree giving you 1.25% CD per point. YOu really aren't feeling how big a difference is in game when you play 2 games with 1.25%, 4 games at 2.5%, and so on up to the full 5%.
