Is Rito really changing Vel'Koz????

Arguably the most balanced champ since his release. One of the only champs who never received any big nerf. He's one of my favorite mid laners if not my favorite and his kit is perfect.

Don't change what's not broken.

instead of changing some of these current unbalanced champions they decided to hunt one of the most balanced champions since its release Riot's playing a dangerous game...

The changes have nothing, nothing, to do with balance.

They want to give people a reason to pick Vel'Koz other then angles

They want him to be more different in team fights more than just pure damage , from my interpretation they will be adding more cc to his kit

Vel'Koz isn't getting changes because he's OP or UP. He's getting minor tweaks because there's literally no reason to pick him short of liking him.

Don't get me wrong; I'm a huge fan of VK. But they're correct in stating that he doesn't do anything unique for the team. Teams pick Syndra becasue she has the longest range AoE stun in the game. People pick Lux because she has long range support and lockdown potential. People pick Ziggs for global impact and strong tower sieging.

Why do people pick VK, though? All he brings is long-range sustained dps, and he's not unique in the way that he provides it. Others can do that job just as well in addition to bringing some form of utility. VK in his current state is an incredibly fun floating ball of DPS, but that's all he is at the end of the day. A little shakeup to give him some more unique impact shouldn't hurt him.

Agreed.

I thought they were changing him because of low playrate and accusations of being generic, rather than balance reasons.

Vel'Koz will be receiving changes due to stale gameplay and little reason to pick him, lets take a look at a few things, because I love Vel'Koz and he definetly could use some buffs here and there:

  1. What in your mind is telling you to pick Vel'Koz over people like Annie/Lux/Ziggs?

Answer: Teamfight potential, you may think dealing tons of damage is great team fight potential but after so many new champions after Vel'Koz, there are people who do Vel'Koz's job better and offer aoe CC other than a tiny circle on the ground. Examples: Lux has a double snare and arguably one of the best shields right now cause it refreshes the shield amount essentially making her W double the amount it says when you think about it, and Annie has an aoe sunfire cape, and a stun thats always up and is instant, meaning more reliable than Vel'Koz CC/Damage because even though true damage is nice, the problem comes from the amount his abilities do, not the true damage.

  1. All Vel'Koz really does, is shoot straight line lasers, which is fine but after awhile you are doing the same thing, building the same items, doing the same stuff, but WHERE IS THE REWARD? You literally get countered by anyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyone. If you don't have your E up, and they get in melee range, all they gotta do is walk behind you? That's it, just walk behind you and start wailing on you.

  2. Vel'Koz's abilities are too telegraphed, you can see each one coming except his ult, you can't combine any other ability besides E and R to kill someone "effectively". What I mean is, if someone knows how to play against Vel'Koz, they bait out the E, then Vel'koz has 2 W charges and 1 Q with a manual detonate. If you W, they either get hit once and are safe, and when you ult, they will be far enough away to just walk out safely or walk to the side and avoid it. Because they can walk faster than you can turn. If you Q, and miss, they will come into melee range and beat you up, and by this time, you're starting to get a little sweaty so you miss another E, and W, then you panic pop ult and die.

Vel'Koz does need buffs, he is too vulnerable for someone with a stationary kit, look at Xerath, his ult has massive range, and deals the same, if not more than Vel'Koz ult and it doesn't even do true damage. But he is also a stationary mage.

tl;dr= not all buffs are good buffs, but ill take anything for Vel'Koz at this point so I can go back to my main, instead of having to pick people who do his dmg better, and CC better, with better team fight potential.

bumping this... Can we get an idea of how his kit will be changed? I am currently having TONS of success playing him support and he's still a really strong pick mid. I love everything about his kit even his W. The satisfaction of having a low enemy thinking they got away and the second tick of W procs and kills them is nice.

I can say that i've found my main this season and I hope he's not going to be changed alot.

ya i know right! hahah... owww.. but its so gone and done... the major anger is already done...

u know they do this stuff well, they announce, get the anger out of the way then anyone still complaining after that is a die-hard main and so wont matter.....

then they do the changes and its done.... another champ screwed.... but hey, its ok 130ish champs.... and they will make another one soon enough for you to buy and learn all new and shiny like....
