Vel'Koz will be receiving changes due to stale gameplay and little reason to pick him, lets take a look at a few things, because I love Vel'Koz and he definetly could use some buffs here and there:
- What in your mind is telling you to pick Vel'Koz over people like Annie/Lux/Ziggs?
Answer: Teamfight potential, you may think dealing tons of damage is great team fight potential but after so many new champions after Vel'Koz, there are people who do Vel'Koz's job better and offer aoe CC other than a tiny circle on the ground. Examples: Lux has a double snare and arguably one of the best shields right now cause it refreshes the shield amount essentially making her W double the amount it says when you think about it, and Annie has an aoe sunfire cape, and a stun thats always up and is instant, meaning more reliable than Vel'Koz CC/Damage because even though true damage is nice, the problem comes from the amount his abilities do, not the true damage.

All Vel'Koz really does, is shoot straight line lasers, which is fine but after awhile you are doing the same thing, building the same items, doing the same stuff, but WHERE IS THE REWARD? You literally get countered by anyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyone. If you don't have your E up, and they get in melee range, all they gotta do is walk behind you? That's it, just walk behind you and start wailing on you.

Vel'Koz's abilities are too telegraphed, you can see each one coming except his ult, you can't combine any other ability besides E and R to kill someone "effectively". What I mean is, if someone knows how to play against Vel'Koz, they bait out the E, then Vel'koz has 2 W charges and 1 Q with a manual detonate. If you W, they either get hit once and are safe, and when you ult, they will be far enough away to just walk out safely or walk to the side and avoid it. Because they can walk faster than you can turn. If you Q, and miss, they will come into melee range and beat you up, and by this time, you're starting to get a little sweaty so you miss another E, and W, then you panic pop ult and die.
Vel'Koz does need buffs, he is too vulnerable for someone with a stationary kit, look at Xerath, his ult has massive range, and deals the same, if not more than Vel'Koz ult and it doesn't even do true damage. But he is also a stationary mage.
tl;dr= not all buffs are good buffs, but ill take anything for Vel'Koz at this point so I can go back to my main, instead of having to pick people who do his dmg better, and CC better, with better team fight potential.
