Official Fan Created Lore?

Instead of killing the lore of a whole bunch of champions, couldn't Riot enlist the help of fans to make the lore? I'm sure there are at least enough fans who would do this. Heck, I don't fancy myself a good writer but I'd try. I'm sure I could do better than "he's am armadillo in the desert, and he like... walks around and stuff." And I'd rather they have only a few champs from Shurima (like the void) instead of killing lore just to squeeze chaps into Shurima. Lore was a big part of what got me into this game in the first place, and I loved Skarner's lore.

EDIT: I mean riot would commission fan writers who want to do it and are passionate about it and that riot would choose
