Sounds like you should just learn to play them well. They're mostly a lot of fun.

1: Nobody can or will learn every single champion well. People usually have 1-3 mains and 5-15 extras.

2: This post was a joke about how miserably boring some champions just are. Especially in ARAM.

3: This post was a joke.

I know several people who own (and play) all the various champions to a reasonable degree of excellence. Not godlike mastery, but enough to enjoy playing them in ARAM or on the rift.

No champ is boring on ARAM, but certain teams can make it hard to do anything.

So was mine.

Then they are doing it wrong. If they played a different champion each game for example. That means in 131 games they would play each champion once. That is no way to get good at any champion. Anybody can probably play most of the champions to the extent of not being a lvl1 noob all over again. But to play at any level of proficiency, especially in some of the more mechanically or strategically challenging champions, especially to keep up to date with their meta with patch after patch. You have to have a focused group of champions.

That aside, the post was still humor. Based on the fact that there are certain champions the community majority will do anything to trade or reroll or dodge out of on ARAM.

When you've been playing since season one, you have time. Back then, learning all the champions was learning like 45, and then a new one every other week or so.

I have been. They still cannot be good at all of them, barely decent at best. Have some friends who got me into League, they started in Alpha and have thousands of games. They still have a focused group. There is a difference between knowing/learning all the champions, which any player should do so they know how to fight them. And actually being good - or even passable - on said champions. You need a focus group to ever been good at any particular champion. I don't play ranked, but I know this from watching ranked play on many levels, knowing people who obsess with ranked and well... just common sense. Even if you have 1310 games, playing all champions equally, that is still only 10 games on each champion, spread out over years. Whereas for example, I am good at Malzahar, Teemo, Riven and Leona because I play mostly them. With about 10 other champions I play on occasion(and as counter picks/backups). And the rest I'll very rarely play for fun.

I disagree. If you know how to play a champ (what its abilities are, combos, etc), you should be able to play it well, or at least well enough (I'm talking going even on kills, being beneficial to the team). 85% of this game is the same regardless of what champ you are playing. Since champs mechanics don't usually drastically change, playing any single one once every few months and keeping up on the patch notes should be more than sufficient to maintain a reasonable skill level.

1310 games over 6 seasons equates to half a game per day. Many people are able to play multiple games per day, especially on weekends. It's much more reasonable to assume 20 or 30 games with each champion on average.

Keep in mind here, I'm not talking about playing at master-level carry-the-team can-do-no-wrong. I'm setting the bar at a reasonable, average ability to play. It mostly comes down to making good plays and working well with the team. Focusing on a few select champions doesn't necessarily make your playing any better, it just makes you familiar with that set. Playing all the champions doesn't make you worse at any of them - a lot of them you can group together as similar characteristics (adcs are a good example) Teemo, corkie and MF all have about the same range for their autos, morgana and lux have the same style skills in the same places, etc.

And even if you played 5-10 games on Kat in S1. That doesn't help you at all playing Kat now. The game is very different.

And Kat is mostly still the same. Sure, her W got changed, but she still plays basically the same. And if you play a few games as Kat, pick her up, really understand her, and then play her a few times a year for the next 5 years, you're still going to be a decent Kat.
