What's your story?

We all have one. We all have something that brings us to League. Maybe we have a rough home life and League serves as an escape. Maybe League is the place where we get to hang out with friends we never see before or get to see anymore. Maybe it's just a game to enjoy. Either way, share your story and tell me what brings you to League and why you're here.

There are no "Bad" stories. We all have something special to share.

I'll share mine here just to get the ball rolling:

I've played League for about 3 years now (Back in 2010 on MF release) and, for a while, it was just a game for me. The real news starts back a little over a year or two ago. I was very unhappy with my current major in college and I had problems at home, all of which came crashing down after a car accident. At that point my parents insisted I get help and, as such, I went to a therapist and began taking medicine to help with my mood.

In the time, League helped me as it provided an outlet to make content and suddenly get praise and help other people in the community get through tough times in their life (or so they told me), which in turn helped me get pass my own problems. It's been a while now and this experience has pushed me toward attempting to work at Riot and, hopefully, continue to service the community which has given me so much in return.

i was a huge fan of Awesomenauts and wanted to get into other MOBAs. I wanted to play Dota 2 at first, but it seemed really hard and also cost 30$ at the time, but as I was doing my extensive days long search for any and all information on games that I want to buy, I saw a lot of comparisons to League of Legends. Reading the comparisons and everything, League seemed more fun, more colorful and whimsical, and also free. Mostly free. Plus it doesn't lag on minimum settings whereas Dota2 does. I've loved it ever since, and it even becomes the only game I play sometimes.

I started playing League near the end of Season 3 when my best friend from high school introduced me to the game along with a few other friends. I ended up finding out that some of my coworkers and friends from college also play. So that combined with the fact that League gave us something to communicate through and keep up with each other after high school has kept me playing League.

Now I'm really really into the Esports side of League (and a little bit for CS:GO as well) and I'm pretty much always watching a stream or on here in the forums when I have free time. Luckily I've got dual monitors so even when I'm playing something like Diablo 3 I can still be doing something League related.

I started League in the end of season 3. I kinda stopped playing at level 5 until preseason 4 and then started playing Annie mid. I play Garry's Mod and CS GO for a while and came back to League with my best friend who I also got addicted to League. This game has been kind of my escape from just people in general. Living in Detroit, the people here are not enjoyable.

Came in right on Volibear patch. It was funny because my friend (IGN: Vanhour) was badgering me about at least trying League for almost a half a year at this point. I had just finished a barrage of tests (it was my freshman year in college) and admitted I needed a break, so I installed it and started playing.

I actually hated it at first, I had no bloody clue what I was doing. I remember when I couldn't even win against beginner bots, it was humiliating. I got sick of it quickly and went back to WoW for a spell, and then winter break hit and I decimated all of Cataclysm's content and got bored with it. The Pandaria leak did NOT help either, so I decided to not only move to a different game but save a respectable amount of money and try League out again, as I was noticing a lot of people in my dorm were picking it up.

I did some digging, a bit of research (thank you mobafire!) and generally looked closer at the game and just went hogwild. I loved the characters, I thought all the kits were either good or awesome and played as often as I could. With general engineering courses being as they are I had plenty of time on my hands. I swept up several of my friends into LoL as well in my fervor and I quickly developed my reputation for being 'The League of Legends guy'.

So when I think about it, it's simply because I love the game and everything behind it, but me getting started (really started) into LoL was a combination of well-timed conveniences.

Hmm where do I start. I think I started playing around the release or a lil before Lissandra . I really hated MOBA's because I viewed them as boring I guess...clicking around meh. Then one day a friend came and installed it on my system, played my first game and went err 0/23/XX (can't remember assists). The total team deaths were 25 lmao! Katarina was the first person I played as well, even the first char I bought.

After a while playing a few games, I became interested and started researching builds, reading news around forums and reddit. The game has become a place where I can chill with friends and have a good time, may be frustrating at times but we get over it. Only started rank this season also, Silver 5 but fun so far.

Used to play Minecraft for two years, owned a server, made tons of money I just got bored of it. Some friends recommended me to League and I was just hooked onto it, ended up quitting my MC server and became addicted to LoL :3

According to the verification email, I started playing League in June of 2011. Which would make it on Leona release.

At the time, I was still playing and competing in Halo MLG events. My friend Chris messaged me one day about a game that MLG was picking up; the game was League. I wasn't particularly happy with how Halo was going so I gave League a try with him. I didn't initially enjoy it too much, it was my first real PC game. I dropped it after getting to like level 5 or something for a while.

I came back when I knew a few more people who played. Leveling is brutal when all of your friends refuse to make smurfs and its your first PC game haha. I learned real quick.

I got really into it when my life just went down the drain for a while. Too much happened at once, caused a bunch of unnecessary nonsense. Though I'm pretty sure I tired myself out and League is more of a chore than enjoyment nowadays.

I had some friend I use to play BO2 with on Xbox. One of them invited me to come and play league with him. TBH I gave up at first, only making it to level 8. But one day he got me to play again, and have been on weekly ever since.

I used to be very active on a forum site that no longer exists. A good friend of mine on that site was really into this game and suggested that I try it. Several of my other friends also joined so I decided to come too. I didn't find this game very entertaining and left my account with just one game. Back to my first sentence, the site that we used to talk on all the time was shut down because it was hacked and the owner didn't want to keep it running after that happened. Although we had each other's emails, we didn't typically correspond through that. Because of this, I started logging on to this game to chat with her and I started playing more and more. Fast forward 3 years and I'm still hooked.

I got pulled into League last year. I had been first introduced to it at a gaming party at a friends house when someone brought their computer and was playing it. I thought it looked too 'cartoonish' for my tastes. I'd never played a game like League before, but last year I heard some more friends talking about starting to play it again and decided I'd see what it was all about.

Was a little frustrating at first, because as a new player to not only the game, but the game genre, I made a looot of mistakes when learning the basics, and to be honest the community is not very accommodating to new players considering how many smurf accounts there are.

Still, I enjoyed it and am still playing.

Well, my story is from the middle of Season 3. My boyfriend had just started playing League and we used to play a lot of games together such as Halo and COD, so I wanted to be able to play games again with him every night as he slowly got sucked into it :P I decided to join as well, and now we play together almost every night and have met a couple great friends through this that we talk to every night even if we arent playing League!

I started playing to impress a guy I liked. We lived 10 hours apart across the Canada/US border though, so we never ended up dating or anything, but we're closer because of it and he's pretty much my best friend now.
