Team communication needs to be enforced

In a team oriented game, Team communication should be the "FIRST" priority of this game, not toxcity. Toxicity can be dealt with simply by muting someone, it's that simple but the lack of communication in games is where the game falls short. Why do you think LCS teams dominate so well? They are 5 guys who play together all the time hooked up with head sets while one person calls the shot and everyone listens. Yet, you expect 5 random people not in call who never played with each other before to perform on a similar level and that's just absurd.

How many times have you guys played games where you ping the team to get inhibs while you aced the enemy team and your team just farms minions and jungle or recalls to buy items because their ego is telling them " Fuck that guy he ain't the boss of me" ?

How many times have you pinged Dragon or Baron to do when the enemy team is down and everyone splits off to do their own thing?

How many times have you pinged your team to team fight you know you can win to win the game and some jerk goes off and farms bot lane cause he wants an item?

How many times have you told your tank to engage in a fight and he stays behind the team running around looking confused?

How many times have you tried to communicate in champ select where people remain silent, don't talk or plan ahead or call out a position then auto lock in a position that is already taken?

In LCS they have stradegy, they have team play and most of all they listen.. In a Normal game or lower elo such as Bronze, Silver, Gold & Plat which i've played in all 4 there is always a lack of communication where people have to wing it and hope everyone else is smart enough to follow up.

To me that is not team oriented, so much focus goes on people calling someone a name or being toxic verbally which can be easily solved with a mute but not enough focus goes toward team communication. What's worse is it has gotten to the point where people disable chat, mute people from the start or even goes as far as changing their language so boxes show up in chat instead of words.

Riot needs to start focusing on the main problen and that is team communication. I don't care if they have an option to vote for a captain to lead the team, or start cracking down on people who refuse to communicate with the team but something has to change.

A built voice chat perhaps so people can communicate like a real team instead of 5 random strangers who have everyone muted in game and never look at the map for pings.. I don't know but something. This is a team oriented game and that should be the "PRIME" focus on getting people to work as a team and listen, not scaring people with punishment to where they just say "fuck it i'm going to mute the team at start"

You are essentially promoting people not to communicate in a sense by doing that. Sure there will always be some person who is not going to listen and just troll, but how about we start rewarding players who do listen instead of just punishing the ones who don't so trolls have more of an incentive to start communicating with the team?

Anything.. It's getting so annoying when people intentionally refuse to communicate because they are either afraid of talking in chat for fear someone will report them and get them suspended or they just feel that they don't need to listen and can do their own thing costing their whole team the game.

Maybe i'm wrong, maybe we will never be able to get everyone on board every game to communicate, but it seems on such a team oriented game the focus would be on that rather then Champion updates, Toxic reports, Deleteing an item then bringing it back, making minor changes to items most people don't even notice.. Those things seem irrelevant if you can't get a team to communicate correctly in a game.

Communication is a skill, and every player needs to improve on it.

You can't enforce mechanics, you can't enforce practice and skill, you can't enforce good habits over minor bad habits every player has.

Not everyone is going to be good at it. It sometimes gets to the point where somebody gets temp banned before they start realizing they need to communicate better, and yes that has happened to some people here.

You just plain can't enforce people to function better as people. They need to grow and develop on their own. I'm sorry.

Where on earth do you get the impression that Riot expects 5 random people who have never played together to perform on a similar level as a pro team?

Riot is trying to make communication easier (see new ranked team builder process) but there is no way they can force communication. If there was voice communication I certainly wouldn't use it. I have no interest in listening and talking to kids.

There are a lot of valid points in this post, but Riot can't or hasn't implemented voice communications to go along with the game, so they can't require communication in games. That's totally up to the player, who even with voice communications, might not even use it anyways. The point is, you can't force communication, the same way you can't force someone to do the impossible. Riot doesn't EXPECT you to play on the level of the pro scene lol, it's just there as a pedestal, merely an advertisement with a little more glam than usual.

And another thing, 5 random people may do really well together, or they may not. That's up to mechanics (which they control), their abilitiy to communicate what they think (also which they control), and how they communicate (after sorting out certain words, which they ALSO control). Most people have mechanics down, they just have to learn that this is a team oriented game and communication is a big part of it. Until then, that's too bad.

I'm just going to answer everyone's post with this one.. you can enforce communication by punishing people who refuse to do it, They have a report option for it but never in 3 years have I ever heard of anyone getting punished for not communicating. It's always been because they were toxic or afked.

Even if it was the case that you can't force communication directly, you can still enforce it or at the very lest promote it with an incentive. I know everyone who is going to reply on this thread has gotten pissed over someone refusing to communicate at some point. So to deny what I said about focusing on team communication is hypocritical.

Either start punishing people who refuse to communicate or start giving an incentive to communicate so people who don't will want to. Plain and simple logic.

The sad truth is players on this game are far too full of themselves. They really have no interest in teamwork and only want 9 other witnesses to how great THEY are. They think they are the best, they know how every champ should play and how everyone else should play the champ. They dont want to talk to you unless to tell you you are "playing the champ wrong". These people act like they are so perfect and thats why they feel it is there privilage to talk down to others. I go by the simple method ** "leave your ego at the door". ** But for this community, that is too much to ask for, so people just remain stuck in thier bubble world of "I'm the BEST, I am perfect!"

The way I see it with these players is "If all you care about is -yourself-, how great -you- look, how many kills -you- can rack up (even at the cost of your team) then you are on the wrong game." This is a team based game: Like chess but each champ is a different piece on the board. When it comes to league, my philosophy is simple. League is like a chess match. If each piece only cares about how many enemy pawns -they- caught, they lose sight of the overall checkmate!" In a previous game I had someone who admitted she was S5 and so felt it was her right to insult, degrade, and talk down to me because I was B5. I have tried making helpfull suggestions like "Hey, they are building X, maybe we should counter with X, it would help" and for my attempt to be a team player, I get told "STFU NOOB, DONT TELL ME HOW TO PLAY MY GAME! REPORTED!" So yeah, after a couple years of that, I just shut up, I stopped trying to be a team player. I play on a team, but I dont actually care about my team anymore. I am not the best, I make alot of mistakes. Mainly because I am trying to readjust my strategy based on what happens in the match. I have tried my best to help new players by giving advice. But after getting my hand bitten off by trying to offer it to help, I find its better for me to just shut up and keep to myself. Tired of attempting to help someone just to have it spit back in my face because my -suggestion- is "Telling them how to play thier game".

These people seem to act like they are all Challenger class, and unwilling to communicate with thier team unless its to talk down to them. Unwilling to take any suggestion into consideration because it is deemed as "telling them how to play" (even when its just a suggestion based on strategic observation. watching the map, seeing what the enemy builds, where they are grouping/moving, etc)

But no, because these people have some smug sense of superiority, Teamwork becomes impossible and teammates just grow to hate each other. That is usually when the team Nukes itself [Nuke: what happens when a teammate sets starts throwing flames at his team, usually resulting in a chain reaction to the point where the team has no desire to work together and just devolves into 5 people trying to "out-flame" each other. Other names: when a team "Self-destructs" or "Cannibalizes" itself]

Sorry for the long reply, thought I would share my observations on why people dont bother really acting as a team anymore. Both personal experiences and overall observations. I Have been playing sinse about season 3. So had plenty of time to watch these players become more and more narcissistic, more full of themselves. They would rather shine a spotlight on a mistake and tear into a teammate, rather than perhaps suggesting ways to avoid making the same mistake. All for the sake of "Look how much better I am than you!"

Noty. I don't like talking to people I just want to play. If I wanted to talk I would just call my girlfriend.
