You know how op.gg and some other sites have an option for telling you what your estimated MMR is based on recent ranked games? I was wondering if any sites have already gotten around to making that algorithm for flex queue? Cause I've only seen sites that have it for the old queue which is solo queue now and isn't yet live.
DrCyanide2 votesRiot's working with OP.GG to get them to remove their MMR estimates, as it's not allowed by sites using the Riot API. For that reason, I can't imagine any new site having the feature you're looking for.

Sad, but this would definitely explain stuff. Riot has this annoying desire to hide important data from us like premade players, MMR, and key fragment drop percentages that would be completely helpful for us in determining how to play the game, but not give us an advantage over other players by being visible.

It matters entirely, this is a new queue and important queue. And because Riot has some riduculous fixation on not sharing our MMR with us, we need a way to get it to tell how our wins/losses will affect us and if we stand a chance of jumping a division or getting demoted a tier.

Even then, it will take time for true MMR's to be created as it's a new ladder and these wont be accurate until many games have been played by many players; creating rank disparity.

How do you get to pro play? You climb in rank until you're the best and hope to get on a team. It's the same as Hockey, Basketball, Football, Soccer, Rugby, etc. etc.

rank isnt something to be ashamed of. i feel rank is just a way for riot to put players of similar skill levels vs each other so they can have fair games and enjoy and have fun playing the game... hear me out...
you are bronze.. what if every game you matched vs plats and diamonds? and you get stomped up and down the map and the game is no fun to you.. are you likely to keep playing if that is what happens every time?
on the other hand if your plat/diamond whatever "high" elo if you playing vs people lower skill level then you is that fun not every being challenged? it would be like if you were to go play a game co op vs bots or a custom game vs bots and the difficult is set on easy?

I didn't say anything about my rank or how I feel about it. I was simply stating why rank is there. It gives people something to strive towards and without a rank you do not have professional players as there is no determining who is the best. You complete avoided the question; "How do you get to pro play?".

Without Gold, Silver, Plat, Bronze, Riot doesn't have a player base and doesn't make money. So yes, they do care about these players. They just don't balance the game around them cause they don't understand the mechanics of the game at quite the same level Plat + does.

I am under the impression that Flex Queue was released and ranked games open for it so that they can develop an MMR for it. Ranked season doesn't start until patch 6.24
When 6.24 is released they will be doing a soft reset of the ranks (after having collected MMR information from the previous weeks of gameplay) and a semi-accurate MMR system will be in place.

This is accurate. It doesn't matter much in preseason. It will have a slight effect on where you place after placements when the real season starts though so you don't want to toss away every game. Regardless he's asking about MMR in flex queue and I was providing an explanation of how I understand it's working right now.

If a player is Silver 3 and Striving to get to gold for ranked rewards (Victorious Maokai in this seasons case) does his rank matter? Can he get Victorious Maokai without climbing in rank?

Granted, if you don't care about mmr at all, then it doesn't matter to you. But while that may be the attitude that you have, it is not the attitude of the community. Might as well not care about your rank at that rate. MMR persists through resets while rank doesn't.

Of course I'm planning on continuing with flex queue when solo queue comes out. Are you completely blind to Riot's statement that if you get gold in both queues that you get extra rewards. It's not just me. The vast majority of the playerbase is going to be using both queues to get those extra rewards.
And making MMR available has absolutely nothing to do with a hotfix. The fact that they made a whole new queue which pretty much makes a new MMR mandatory isn't the issue. The issue is the fact that they have some ridiculous refusal to make MMR available to players even though it's critical to how they progress in ranks. It's the equivalent of if everybody hid your credit score from you when you need to apply for loans.
