How does a Skin Rental work?

So you get to use the skin for seven days, then what happens to it? Does it disappear after the seventh day, or is it still in your loot inventory?

It disappears. If you use your shard to rent the skin, you consume it. So you can use the skin as much as you want for 7 days, and then after the 7th day the skin disappears.
