You know whats the sad thing about the chroma skins?
Back in the days where RIOT still cared about the community, when they saw it in Heroes of the Storm, as a free reward for learning a champion, they would have thought "Well, thats a nice idea that fits in with the champion point system we plan, lets do the same and give them as rewards" instead of "You know what? I bet our cash cows are willing to pay for that!"
This is by far not the only thing that shows how much RIOT changed over the years. When LoL was young, RIOT actually cared for the players, (or at least pretended to?) but the bigger the game become, the more they changed that. In earlier seasons, when we had server problems, we got IP Boosts as an excuse, these days we get a "well, sh*t happens, deal with it", if anything.
Everything that doesnt give a profite is thrown out, Summoner Showcase was a community favorite, had tons of views... but it didnt bring the big $, so, goodbye. The Lore team was cut so hard, I really start to belive there is none left, just one guy in champion creation is ordered to write 3 sentences down for every champion or stuff like that, and many more stuff was just thrown out cause, despite the community loving it, it wasnt profitable...
Latest proof of that change is that RIOT just doesnt go to PAX (NA) or Gamescom (EUW) any more, with the excuse of holding "other events". What comes out to be hosting some small tournaments and stuff. Lets do the math, going to PAX/Gamescom: reaches thousands of players, costs money, no profit. Hosting little tournaments: reaches maybe 100, costs less money than going to big events and brings a profit. So, the obvious choise for RIOT: Lets host small tournaments instead of maybe a community event at PAX/Gamescom.
It is really sad, that just about 6 years was enough for RIOT Games to totaly forgot where they came from and who actually made them big. in 2009, League of Legends was a shot in the dark, a little hope by a young company, the community that formed around that game made the game and the company the big names they are today... and we are already no more than cash cows for them.
RIOT presence in the Forum is down to the few straw men reds, that mostly show up to assure us that RIOT is totaly not ignoring the community, and honestly, I feel sorry for these scapegoats.
The game is still great. This is no "I leave" post. I will stay, I will play. My RIOT points purchase went down to 0, but I stay. I just wanted to make this thread, because I am really sad to see how fast MOney and Fame can change people. Or maybe it never changed them, but they just could stop pretending to care, who knows.
Maybe this will be deleted in no time with the excuse of "being in the wrong section" or stuff, but I dont care. I said what I wanted to say
