What Should I Have Done?

So I did something wrong last night and undoubtedly got reported by most people in the game.

We were picking champs and I said fill. I ended up with jungle which was fine. Took Amumu. 5 minutes into the game I did not yet chat to anyone. Score was 3-3. Then it began. Our Kayle randomly decided to follow me around the jungle and steal XP and even worse, monster kills from me. She even managed to jack my red when my smite was down. I asked her "Please stop" and that "I did nothing wrong to you". She said nothing and kept doing it.

I typed in all chat: "I am sorry for doing this but I am leaving the game, our Kayle is following me around in the jungle and stealing my camps."

And I left. Did I do the right thing, and if not, what should/could I have done? There was at least 30 minutes left to the game and that would have been a horrible 30 minutes.

There were a lot of terrible, mean, and just unskilled players on this weekend.

I noticed a severe drop in quality of players. I even had a couple rage bouts when I am pretty level headed.

Comments like "LOL you lost" (they were on my team?)

and "It's just a game" - my personal hot button

You want a good reason why what you did was incorrect?

You had 3 non-troll teammates who had a right to decide whether to continue playing. The system has a proper method for determining that - it is called surrender. Pre-20 minutes you can talk to your team and agree to "surrender" by abandoning mid lane so that the opposing team can push and win easily.
You missed an opportunity to report Kayle so that the player is banned and can't troll others.
You lied. You said "I am sorry for doing this" when you were not sorry in the least.

That situation sucks and it is unlikely you could win. But if your team didn't want to surrender, you should have tried to force an early victory by going to a lane and pushing. Don't let the enemy take 30 minutes to slowly build a power lead because Kayle is sapping your gold. If Kayle is forced into fights she will at a minimum absorb some of the enemy attacks and possibly fight back. The troll's goal was to make you look bad, so Kayle might not have wanted to damage her own score by doing poorly deliberately in team fights.

You did it right. If kayle didn't care about winning and teammates game experience then you should give zero fucks about hers, tell her off, and afk.

If you do this to some one else, if you troll people, blame people, rage at people, or do anything other than act like a good team mate and provide positivity then you deserve to be abused, trolled, and afked on til you lose. Period. You deserve to have your game experience ruined in reciprocal fashion. Period.

Did the troll Kayle deserve shot?

Yes.

Did your teammates deserve being abandoned?

No.

Is it right to expect you to waste your life on a ruined game?

Not really.

You were sympathetic and the victim, and the mindset of "suck it up and put up with the bullshit" is probably my most-loathed part of this community (which I see as a factor of too many teen-and-lower brats in it) even tho I can see where it comes from; I don't leave games, I just mute idiots and stop trying to win if a game is obviously lost - not throwing it but not wasting anyone's time on either side prolonging a foregone conclusion with my usual shenanigans.

Mind that's "troll game protocol" and not "losing but could still turn it around protocol". I love a good reversal and comeback. Makes victory sweeter.

But no, you should have probably tried to soldier on, and maybe passive-aggressively got TrollKayle killed a couple times. Remember, you don't have to outrun the gank, only outrun your "buddy."

I'm all up for abandoning if there is something toxic in the game.

And imo all the team mates should do that. Carrying one declared toxic player does nothing but justifying the toxic behavior bringing this community to the point it is now (and probably worse in future).

Also I don't see why some1 should feel bound to end a game where such toxicity cannot be fought (Friendly fire mode would be really fun).

Think of it that way, the goal of troll who act like that is to make player quit the game. So when you quit, they won the troll game and are happy.

Do you want to make that kind of player happy?

I hate that. There have been times where an aggressive mid would take down the wraith camps if they were up before they go back. Very frustrating. Stolen buff though? That's messed up.

Never leave a game, even if it doesn't seem worthwhile.

I remember when I was playing bots when I started playing and decided to try out Dr. Mundo. Since I was new, I was obviously clueless as to how he worked and kept on dying. One person kept on harassing me so I decided to do the same exact thing you did. Within the next few hours I was banned for a few days for leaving the game.

Was I being harassed? Yes. Did I handle the situation well? No.

What I should have done was gone through the game, mute the player, and report him with an explanation.

Obviously in your case, he was following you, harassing you in game. I think the best thing to do in your case was to go into different lanes and try to help out the other laners. If he follows, it'll be a 2 man gank, he'll stay in the jungle, or he'll return to his lane. Like someone else said, it would have been a learning experience. Of course, at the end of the game file a report with detailed comments.

Hopefully you don't have the same problem.

Its wrong that you left the other 3 people trying because now they were 4v5 instead of 4.5 v 5
No one will blame you for joining a lane when another team member is effectively starving you of your job. They might complain, but they'll understand that kayle is the one in the wrong if it comes down to reporting.
You also fortfit your right to report them, and because you left, the rest of the team will report BOTH of you.

I would have proceeded to initiate a 2v5 with kayle, then bounced making it 1v5 for the lulz before afking. That's just my opinion on how to handle it.

This is a very effective method to teach noobs that want to leech all your gains to back the F&*^ off no matter where you are. You will lose, but have fun doing it. Just opolgyze to your team and explain why you are trolling the noob. I have never had a team respond badly to this, as long as I proceeded smartly around them.

Did Kayle talk at all before she did this? besides calling whatever lane she was in? Did your teammates react at all to her actions?
