Okay. Clarity is one of your design goals. That's great, and things like the Kha'Zix range indicator are a great help.

So, why? What possessed you to, for the first time in 5 years, give a champion ability the same name as another champion ability?

Yes, Graves and TF are friends. That's cool. But it's just confusing to have Graves's new passive and Twisted Fate's ultimate both called Destiny. Is there a plan to change TF's ult name?

I guess they really should avoid that, but I don't think I have ever heard a passive refereed to by its name. If someone is talking about grave's passive they usually say "grave's passive".

I have a hard time believing anyone will actually be confused by this.

Esports announcers generally go out of their way to refer to abilities by name, even passives, and TF's ult is really important in professional games so when the announcer says Destiny my ears instantly perk up.

That is a fair point. I don't watch esports much so I hadn't noticed or considered that.

His passive isn't really going to be mentioned a lot. It's a very passive passive, if that makes sense. To give this more clarity, think about Kalista's passive. Have you ever heard anyone ever say its name? Do you even know its name?

I do, but that's because I looked it up.

Kalista's Passive is called Martial Cadence, and I know that because I pay attention to ability names and have a weirdly selective memory.

I mean, Hecarim's Q is called Rampage which makes me feel depressed because it would be such an awesome ultimate name for a champion like Sion who just bowls over the enemy team.

And people talking about Graves's passive will probably be relevant because his passive is the thing that gives him a knockback on his autos, which is a pretty significant ability for a passive (The snare on Nautilus's Staggering Blow is the only other passive I can think of that has hard cc in it).

Actually, it's Martial Poise. The more you know.

I think that would get referred to as "Buckshot", since that part of the passive is what is being referenced.

Ah yeah. I knew Martial Poise but said Martial Cadence because I've typed that one more (it's J4's passive).

And that's not the name of the ability. It shouldn't be up to the players to come up with names for stuff because Riot double names things.

Yeah, it gets confusing sometimes. Jinx and Ziggs ults also have that problem.

The specific section of that passive is named Buckshot, on the PBE. It's listed in the passive description. I see what you mean with the double naming, but honestly, I'd rather call it Buckshot when it gets used. It sounds cooler than Destiny.

His shotgun is named Destiny. And its not that big of a deal. Its not like we get Janna's ability and the item mixed up. How many conversations will you have in your life where you'll get it mixed up? That's right! Probably none.
