Nothing frustrates me like Boards Bias
You see it every time a balance or design thread pops up:
"Riot nobody gives a shit about esports" "WE'RE your customers, stop catering to the 1% diamond" "lmao pro scene sucks who cares about them."
I hate this argument. I hate it with every fiber of my being.
It's the exact same argument I heard when I was asking for more lore, more stories. "Nobody cares about lore" "lol I only play the game who gives a fuck about why they fight" "play the game, I don't care about anything else". And you know what? Those people got proved wrong once Riot DID start improving lore and it's one of the more popular aspects about League as of late.
This doesn't just extend to lore though, and let me drop what seem to be truths people ignore or don't want to hear:
- Not everyone thinks a tank meta is the best.
- Some people actually enjoy the esports scene quite a lot.
- The boards and reddit make up a small portion of League's massive playerbase.
- EVERY aspect of League, from lore to esports to PUB play, deserves love.
- A thousand upvotes doesn't mean your argument is the will of the masses.
League is a game played all across the world by apparently a hundred million people. (Although I don't believe that) Every single player has their own thing they love. Some want better balance. Some want more pro scene love. Some want more lore and stories. Some just want more ways to fuck around and not get banned. Every single one of these groups should be included and thought of. Sure, you can't make everyone happy and sometimes the overlap doesn't work at all, such as disabling GP for lore reasons, but EVERYONE deserves love.
If the strongest argument you can make is "Yeah well -I- don't like so why should Riot care"? You need a new argument.
