Picking a Champ to Main

Chaos Milk Tea·3/1/2016, 5:09:48 PM·1 votes·560 views

Hey, I'm looking for another champion to main. I want someone who: -Can carry when ahead -Provide Utility when behind -Fit into multiple team compositions -Strong or at least useful in the late game

I currently play Orianna, and so I have all these features in a seldom banned always useful mid laner but I don't have an ace in another role. I was considering Poppy or JarvanIV in the jungle. I'm not concerned with average winrate, but more so the potential of the champion if you learn to play them well.

Sion has a pretty sexy jungle clear, the health you collect with his w passive and some items just makes him a 6000 health monster without much effort

Vi . Has strong damage when ahead, can go tank and be very durable when behind, and can provide strong cc, initiation and gank potential with her ult. She's overall very well rounded in my opinion.

Vi, Trundle, Lee Sin, Nautilus, and a myriad of other bruisers or tanks fit that mold. Poppy is a good example, as well.

Ekko.

Can be played Top, Mid, and Jungle.

Amazing Utility.

Diverse build paths.

Solid jungle clear.

Good waveclear in lane.

Has initation tools.

Very safe with his ult.

When fed he can dive into a team blindfolded and kill 3 people.

When behind he can provide clutch peels, he's hard to turret dive, and is hard to catch out.

Fits just about anywhere in any comp because you can build him assassin, tank, or bruiser.

Insanely strong late game.

I've had so many games where our team is getting crushed, we manage to turtle, then suddenly i become an unkillable CC machine who dives into their team and FORCES the enemies to pay attention to me while our team goes crazy on their frontline.

Some of my favorite builds on him:

Top lane tank: item 3111 item 3001item 3110 item 3742 item 3102 item 3157

Mid lane assassin:item 3158 item 3285 item 3100 item 3089 item 3135 item 3001

Top/Mid bruiser:item 3009 item 3027item 3110 item 3091 item 3001 item 3025

Jungle Tank:item 3111 item 1409 item 3110 item 3157item 3742 item 3143

Jungle Assassin:item 3009 item 1410item 3041 item 3135 item 3001 item 3089

The list goes on and on because you can build him in any way for any situation in any game.

And above all else...He's fun to play

Jhin a strong adc and mid laner. A decent top. I think his skillshots are surprisingly easy. Utility - when you see your allies attacking a champion from far away, you can bind them with W which can be unexpected because of the range. - if your mate is getting chased, use your ult to slow down enemies, but usually people just completely avoid it because of how strong it is. Also his damage is easily underestimated, which if you're ahead, you're pretty much good unless they start focusing you.

Top lane Gnar Jungle Maokai
MidBrand ADC Ashe Supp Blitzcrank or Thresh

For the most part I'm going to avoid supports for now, mostly because it's hard to carry with them in Silver Elo. Otherwise I'd be playing the heck out of Thresh.

Ashe and Jhin look good due to high utility.

I'm mostly ignoring any mid laners, since Orianna covers that space perfectly.

A lot of the currently strong top laners fall off late game. Sion is the biggest offender, being an early game champion despite his passive. His axe smash also becomes unusable in team fights since you get cc'd out of it every time.item 3070 item 3070

Gnar Poppy JarvanIV are interesting either for their utility or team fight potential. I prefer the top or jungle to be fairly tanky for the sake of team composition because there's always the guy who decides you need more assassins for some reason. I really like Nautilus but his damage doesn't scale making it hard to carry.

I like Annie. You have to have great positioning with her since she lacks escapes but can snowball hard if ahead and always has her stun if she falls behind.

Zac Amumu Warwick are all really good choices for the jungle.

My recommendations:

Anivia Jhin Kayle Lissandra TwistedFate Udyr Ziggs Zyra Malphite

Anivia and ziggs are excellent waveclear mages that can easily stall a game for your team and prevent sieges well into the early and mid game. Anivia has a sizable powerspike in the midgame and transitions well into the late game by providing insane utility and zoning tools when her damage falls off slightly because people finish their MR items. Ziggs has an arguably longer range than anivia and specializes more in poke compositions, but his damage potential remains stronger in the mid and late game.

Kayle is an incredibly flexible champion that can arguably be played in all roles. She can build AD with essence Reaver, AP with Nashor's, as on-hit or straight up mage. She is a scaling monster who you do not want to ever see ahead on the enemy team. Her ult grants her incredible utility if used correctly, and is a very powerful saving grace if she falls behind.

Lissandra was once hailed as a frigid queen of top lane, where her consistent poke, innate durability and nasty anti-melee root really made for a nasty opponent. She's been nerfed somewhat since those days, but she is still a powerful pick with huge play making potential. When ahead she can make for an amazing skirmisher with strong pick potential. Late game and in teamfights her ult can almost single-handedly win teamfights.

TF is considered a mid to late game champion as well. His ultimate is a surprising counter to powerful stealth picks such as rengar, akali, evelynn, twitch and vayne. His gold card is certainly a thing to be feared, and will force your opponents to play safely, making it easier for your team to secure a lead. When behind his gold card is still noteworthy in teamfights, as it's an excellent kiting and peel tool.

Udyr is a super strong pick in the right hands, though it has been made easier of late with people discovering runic echoes on him. He is an objective pushing god that takes a concerted effort to counter when he's ahead, but when he's behind it's very easy to slip into peel mode for your backline as a stun bot in bear stance.

Zyra is a pick I simply don't see as much as I should like. She along with vel'koz provide and insane amount of burst as combo mages, but zyra possesses additional utility that he does not in the form of her plants. In their dormant stage, these plants can serve as little mini wards that grant vision of enemy targets that tread on them. She also possesses a long-reaching, multi-target snare and a huge AoE knockup ultimate that drives your plants to insane amounts of damage.

Lastly, Malphite. A tanky nuisance in this AD-ridden atmosphere with a particular taste for the tears of attack-speed based champions. He's a champion who loves his mid to late game. Once he hits 6 it's game on for him. If he's ahead he becomes even MORE tanky and begins to stack CDR to make use of that devastating ultimate of his even more.
