DUDE! i looked through my history, i think the best game was where I and my team placed around 60 wards. What a difference!!! they place a ward averaging every 45 seconds and that's low.... makes you rethink vision!
To be honest, I don't really think soloqueue merits that many wards almost all of the time. The odds of the enemy team coordinating, taking a risk to surprise you, and then actually succeeding is just low.
The reason their ward counts are so high is that they are very deliberate about their vision. They don't just scatter the wards and leave them long term. If they're hitting an objective, they prep the area surrounding it. Moving to the next objective? Surround it with wards. Not focusing a specific objective? Wide coverage to watch the jungle. Post laning, they rarely stay in one location so long that wards get a chance to expire by time.
