So when did the meta move away from the team protecting the ADC?

PubgamerAU··1 votes·580 views

Just curious when this happened. Last time I used to play, it was all about babysitting the ADC so they could clean up entire teams late game. Now it seems to be 'leave the adc alone while you go farm another lane, then blame them when they die'?

Probably when all the popular ADC's got enough dashes and skills to be able to protect themselves

PubgamerAU1 votes

Sorry but a 350 range dash on a 20 second cd is not enough to protect yourself from shyvana/xin/zed diving you at any point they feel like.

Either people are too retarded to see that, or shit needs to go back to babysitting the ADC.

Yeah but they are melee and adcs are ranged, with as much or even more mobility than melees.

Checkmate.

PubgamerAU1 votes

How... how does that mean checkmate? There isn't a single ADC with the mobility of someone like Zed or Xin Zhao. Not only do they have LOWER base movespeed than EVERY SINGLE MELEE IN THE GAME, but they also have 1/3 the ehp of a melee. They will literally die in 5 hits from any bruiser, and less from an assassin.

So really, you just made yourself look like a moron.

Checkmate.

While Zed is certainly mobile but if you're saying Xin is like Zed then you're dead wrong.

Adcs build LW, Shiv, IE, BotRK, whatever so if anything, Adcs are the one 5 shotting people, and purely through AA.

Remember adcs are ranged, so the melee has to cross some distances to even think about attacking you while you have plenty of chances to gun them down before their arrival. And when the melee guy is finally in range and reaches you through his gapcloser, his effort is completely gone unanswered due to your escape. Not because he is bad, but because you're fundamentally superior.

Hence that is why there is no need to protect adcs anymore these days.

PubgamerAU1 votes

Actually, all a melee has to do is use one of their dashes, and they close the distance instantly. There is no 'running up' to the ADC.

Have a look at ADC average range, and melee dash average range.

Go on, I'll wait.

ADCs all have dashes or some kind of reliable mobility/cc/both these days, at least those who people are still playing.

That is why if you wish to catch an adc you need to run up to them completely unknown, unless you're playing Lee, Zed, LB or Nid then you can just don't give a F.

However for most people, it's a pain to catch up to adcs who are ranged and just as mobile as you are, or more mobile than you.

PubgamerAU1 votes

and once again, ALL ranged dashes have a maximum range of... you guessed it... MELEE RANGE. The distance ADC dashes move an ADC is literally countered by the fact a melee can keep attacking. In fact, the only 'dash' that doesn't keep the adc in melee range is tristana... and hers is countered by the slightest bump/slow.

SEKAI1 votes

Why can you not get over the fact the reason ADCs have shorter dash distance is because they have longer attack range?

And what's more, they also have their own other CCs in the kit, while keeping their late game unchanged as they scale better with items, let's not mention Riot even makes them several items all for the sake of killing beefier targets.

That's why protecting them isn't required like it was before, how hard is that to understand?

Do you want them to be completely broken and superior to be considered balanced?

PubgamerAU1 votes

I never said they didn't have shorter dash range. I don't care what the tradeoff is when your argument is 'THEY HAVE DASHES!' yes, they do. Dashes that don't actually do anything to peel for themselves because the dash itself doesn't even take them out of melee range.

How hard is that to understand?

SEKAI1 votes

The melee guys' dashes have their own cd too, and they need those to even think about getting close to you.

So it doesn't matter if you have have a short dash or not, a distance is a distance. Not to mention it's not like you can't make a run for it when you see them coming from a mile away.

Then ADCs also have their own CCs. All on top of their damage, scaling and range.

I have no idea why you would think ADCs still need protection these days since they really don't, at least way less than they needed ages ago.

You're talking as if ADC's literally only have auto attacks. There's red buff for slows, there's boot enchants for movespeed increases, Lucian's W gives a movespeed boost if you hit a target and then AA it, Graves has his smoke canister that slows and reduces vision, Vayne has a knockback, Tristana has a huge jump AND a huge knockback.

I could keep going but damn, son. Every single ADC has a slow or a dash or a knockback or a MS increase or some other kind of utility that lets them deal with that kind of stuff in some way. Some are much, much better than others, but they all have something.

Depends. Just recently I was playing Lucian and kept getting zoned from fights and 1v1'd by a Sej, leading us to lose 1-2 teamfights. Picked up Last Whisper, and then Sej became a silly joke. Shyv is the only real problem i see from the champs you listed. If she gets to keep her burnout up, yeah, she'll probably kill you unless you can melt tanks. Only thing to worry about Xin is not getting hit by his knock up. Zed is pretty much just QSS and dash or flash away when he ults.

edit- and you call it a 20 second CD, i assume you must be talking about Lucian and Graves, both of which reduce the CD's of their dashes with each auto attack, making it more like 8-10 seconds if you're constantly fighting with Graves, and Lucian's could be even lower, as a full rotation, opening with his dash, reduces the CD on it by 6 seconds i think, just from his passive procs. All other ADC dashes that i can think of are on low CD's

Back in the days where adcs are actually weak throughout the game until late, yeah they needed the help.

But in the time where adcs have enough stuff to be decent or strong early to mid while remain their usual characteristic of OP late, there is no point protecting them. Since melees, the one who screws them over with engage initiations, can not reach them anyway.

PubgamerAU1 votes

But melee CAN reach them...

SEKAI2 votes

While you CAN use a knife and beat someone with a gun.

But can you say guns are not superior?

That's the issue here, melees have to use way too much effort catching ranged while ranged have it easier, killing people from afar while just have enough mobility as melees to escape sticky situations, completely disregarding the melee guy's effort.

And that's not fair.

And that's why it isn't required to protect these late game hypercarries early game anymore.

And that's where it is wrong. Melees should die when approaching ranged recklessly, but ranged should die when they let themselves exposed in melee's attack range. And what is OP late should have a piss weak early.

ADCs' existence defies both rules.

Can tell you're a top/bruiser main. You think melee's have the short end of the stick right now.

I've already shown you facts. You just refuse to believe them. I don't think I'm going to try convince you anymore. You will literally just stick your head in the sand and yell 'LALALALALA'

SEKAI1 votes

It's not I think, it's because they do, have the short end of the stick in this melee vs ranged debate. ADCs now have cc and mobility all on top of their ranged advantage to greatly enhance their early game while keeping their inherit late game OP'ness.

In the current stage of the game unless you're playing mobility creeps otherwise catching a ranged is harder than playing as them.

Or you can just go look for this gentleman Soliox's posts here, for further readings on why I think you're wrong.

EDIT: And I really don't think you've actually shown me any fact.

If the ADC needs a babysitter it´s not worth investing that many ressources into him anyway...

PubgamerAU1 votes

....

You're kidding right?

an ADC has 2000 health, MAX at full build. A xin zhao who can ignore your front line and just dash onto the adc, slowing them and still being in auto attack range after they use their own dash, will kill an ADC in as little as 5 hits.

ALL adc's need babysitting. End of discussion.
