Years later and I still don't get this stupid LP system

So I have been on and off with hot streaks the past week and my gains have been all over the radar.

Just today and yesterday

Win - 17 lost - 18 win - 13 lost - 12 win - 20 lost - 23

Wha...it can't make up its mind. The closer I get to my promos too the more I lose. Went on a 3 game win streak and got about 13-17 per win. I lost one game and lose 23. Not like I have bad mmr because I am shifting just a little above or below 50% win rate, yet my IP loses are ridiculous.

I know how it is supposed to work, but it doesn't seem to actually go by any real scale, otherwise I wouldn't be losing way more than I gain sitting at 50% win rate, would I? I thought that was when you have terrible mmr, which...a 50% win rate is far from bad, correct?

Your total win rate doesn't necessarily matter, especially if you have a lot of games played. Your more recent win rate(like the last 50-100 games) is what is going to determine if your MMR is shitty or not.

It takes quite a bit to fall from division 5s and everytime you lose at 0 LP, its going to make your gains worse.

I know, I have above a 50% win rate too. I don't know how many times I've won like 3 games in a row, gained about 40 LP then I'll loose a game and get -23 LP... Like why?
