Influx is silver ranked people????

So I recently got a new account because I didn't like my old summoner name and I recently just finished my provisionals and I was placed in silver, I was surprised because I had only won 5/10 games. Then another one of my friends (friend 1) who I know is worse than me won only 4/10 and was placed in silver and I am no diamond player but, this kid is really bad. Meanwhile I have two other friends (friend 2 and 3) who I know are better than me and they placed in bronze near the beginning of the season and they both won 8/10 of their games. Is it easier to place higher near the end of the season because my friends who were in bronze grinded to silver and they said the people in silver are worse than the people in bronze.....Now that kinda makes me wonder. Is it easier to place near the end of the season? Anyone else place in silver after winning around only half of there games?
