AFKs lose the lp for all 4 teammates.
Boom, afk problem fixed and fixed 33% of "toxicity".
Edit: If they are duo, they both lose the lp from their 3 teammates.

Internet goes out for one game and you suddenly demote 3 divisions.
Your math skills are pretty bad.
I think he's an exaggerating :V
He has a point.

Horrible idea. At one point someone is going to afk atleast 1 game. lets say I afk and everyone was suppose to lose 18 lp. 18 x 4 = 72. Subtracting 72 LP just for one damn game? oh wait. Don't forget the LP you already are going to lose. + 18. -90 LP. not a good idea. at all.
Great idea. Stops people from afking. I have 0 afks in ranked, isn't too hard.
Most of the AFKing I see is actually from people that either never connected to the game (Riot's fault), lost power (nature or their power company's fault), or their internet died (their ISP's fault). These are definitely important to minimize, and still negatively impact the player experience, but making a player basically lose all of their progress to the next Division if they are forced to AFK really won't stop these sorts of problems from happening.
If you afkm you deserve it

Remember you said that next time your power goes out or an emergency comes up.
I proposed this like 3 years ago. Except back then the system was different, there was no LP, just straight Elo.
That is even meaner... back there was much harder to climb on ELO alone since you had no safety net.
except you had no promos then, so it was pretty easy to climb
You are joking, right? or maybe you didn't play that season... climber now is much easier right now
Climbing is only easier if you go on massive win streaks. Having a >50% winrate back then almost certainly meant you were climbing.
This is false. Climbing was far more intuitive and took far fewer games with pure ELO than with the current system, because depending on your luck with promotional series' you can get stuck on one for literally hundreds of games.
Keep in mind, if you have a win rate greater than 50% with the pure ELO system you would eventually climb. In the current system, a player's win rate has to spike to 66%/75% for a very specific set of games in order for that player to progress.
k the amount shown right now might be a little to much, you would basically lose all progress you made in that division in 1 game.
I would suggest lose LP for 33% or 50% of the amount your team mates were going to lose in addition to your own.
However have this be blocked by a 2 AFK per month buffer, that way if people have an emergency or power/internet blow out they don't loose as much progress for something they don't have power over. In this situation the penalty would be just the current penalty of a lost game, because you can't be sure something happened.
In both situations the team mates of the AFK would only lose 50% of the LP they would have lost if they loose, because they still lost a game that was winnable (4v5's are winnable), but they had an AFK. And finally this would only happen if the game had only been going on for 10 mins. or less when the AFK happend, because when people disconnect or AFK/dodge it is usually at the start of the game and it would keep people from abusing the system by getting someone to AFK late into an unwinnable game. (note the AKFer's penalty would still occur in this situation)
na, just give teammates a 20% ip boost if they win and don't detract from their mmr if they lose.
Yea , your internet has a problem and boom , you are back to bronze
This would be far too harsh a punishment. Doubled LP loss might be a feasible amount, but effectively quadrupling the amount of LP lost when flagged for going AFK would be more likely to deter players from ranked than to actually reduce AFK issues.
5x not 4x, you would still have to lose the LP you were going to lose anyway...
Good point, and even more of a reason not to implement something like this.
