Retailers like gift cards cause they know people who use them will invariably spend more than the gift card. Riot "gives" you chest and keys but to make anything permanent by chance you need a lot of luck. In walks the key master. "Buy some crates and chest", he says. In the end it is another way to get those with low impulse control on the hook again. I'm still looking for that benevolent corporation.

You will own every champ from IP before this becomes a THING Yes I know there are those that have gotten some good shit. There are 27 million players. spare me your anecdotal stories. I was merely making an observation about probability. You will wind up buying if you want to make this what it was when you first dreamed about RIOT giving you something for free. I just got a legendary skin in a crate. How long will it be before I have enough essence to make it permanent?

That's the problem with "essence" in order to gain ANY essence, be it orange or blue, you NEED to disenchant items you do not want. But that just means you have a limited number to do so with if you don't want to buy any chests per year.

Plus, for players like me, and possibly you, that have all the champions on our main accounts, it's useless to get a champion shard and then get the champion essence from it.

I got a Shen shard.. but i have ALL the champions so I wasted money.
