All aboard the DoTA 2 train!

Long ago the MOBAs lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the LoL preseason attacked. Only Rito, master of MOBAs could stop it. But when the players needed him most, he vanished. 100 hours passed and my friends and I discovered a new MOBA, a game name DoTA 2. And although the gameplay was great, it still has a lot to learn before its ready to save any player. But I believe, DoTA 2 can save us all.

+1, although for me it's SMITE.

Why does no one understand. The preseason is supposed to be a jumbled mess of testing. Nothing is final, its not broken. If you dont like it, wait like a week while they fix it. People are way to quick to act. Riot released the preseason? This must be what the season will be. There will obviously be no fixes. Let's start an uprising!

I actually considered switching to DOTA, but there are just so many things I hate about it compared to league that I couldn't (high mana costs, low availability of mana regen, even more snowbally, gold loss on death, tons of stealth heroes, extremely long range cc abilities, extremely powerful items, way more dependent on csing/denying, no recall, and runes (that they are random and really impactful (double damage !)).

DoTA's shop is just...

I consider myself a smart person, but that shop made me feel dumb as fuck and I had no clue what to buy.

DoTA is too weird for me, but I do have over 50 hours into Blood Bowl 2 so far. I'm raging significantly less in a game dependent on dice rolls where your players can potentially die forever every time you get a bad roll than I am playing League. That's the point I've reached.

100 hours?

Have fun with your new game, I'll enjoy not playing against you

Meh, it's a flavor thing imo. DotA requires you to know a lot more before you can even consider playing with real people, but once you get into it, the gameplay is excellent (although noticeably different from league).

Personally, I'd say play whichever you find more enjoyable and leave it at that.

I want to like dota, but...

  1. I can't stand the art. I just can't. It's almost the same art/models from dota 1.
  2. some mechanics e.g. the % miss chance up ledges...ugh
  3. q times of upwards of 40 days and 40 nights
  4. I'm not playing a game with Pudge and Sniper in it.

I enjoy DOTA 2 a lot, but also enjoy league. While I have spent more hours on league, I tend to get frustrated with league more, then pre season hit. At least Dota gives you cool abilities before I r@pes you.

The way I've seen it, Dota 2 is less newer player friendly and less for people with short attention spans. You got to put the time into learning it, once you do it become a lot more enjoyable. I've met a lot of nice people in there and even the assholes.

The abilities are what riot won't try/used to do. Remember jax dodging towers, TF Tele on basic ability? Tons of abilities feel powerful or crazy for basic abilities.

Then you have the awesome skins, buy them in the market place for cheap, mix and match them together.

The interactions are bloody amazing. Heroes talking to each other randomly, rivals calling each other bitch. "I'm like a bad meal, ya can't keep me down" after respawning.

I still play league more due to friends and time/money invested, but for some reason when league has op characters the game gets frustrating. I think its because league characters own because of pure stats or overloaded kits whereas in dota it's because they got ahead. Though dota isn't exempt from op characters. Its just their balance team is by far better then Riots, due to how different the games go about themselves.

Didn't mention league because we're on a league forums and we know why we love the game, in all its good and bad moments.

Smite is where it's at.

You might find DotA 2's gameplay better, but Valve is pretty much just as cancerous as RIOT in the exact same departements: Player Communication and Player Support.

Hi-Rez on the other hand is top notch.

Who am I kidding, let's just all go play VainGlory, KappaRoss.

Tried DotA 2. Didn't catch on. Got too boring for me. DotA 2 is proaction, League is reaction.

Why do I said that? DotA 2 has CC that lasts much longer than CC you'll find in League. Though, I will say I did like the fact that DotA 2 is more focused on counter-building over counter-picking. Though, this season feels like League will be going back to some form of counter-building over counter-picking... only if Riot actually made tank items good again... You also have that I felt like I wasn't progressing, as everything is unlocked from the get go. Same with Smite on that accord. Got the God-pack, felt like I wasn't progressing after that.

im still sticking to league tbh, though i may pick up destiny or warframe again as a second game
