Soraka
I posted a while back on the forums suggesting some changes to Soraka but I doubt anyone saw it. :P Maybe I can get some feedback on my ideas?
So let me look at Soraka's kit as a whole and how each component fits together.
We've got her passive's magic resist and her W's armor. At first glance this allows making a carry survive burst (especially in lane/gank). But didn't you previously say Soraka's counterplay is naturally burst? I think if we changed this to fit her thematically we could get it to work to allow for that bursty counterplay (Infuses silence already allows for her to stop an assassin in there tracks).
I say we redo her passive entirely to make the game fun for everybody. What if her passive was a stackbased system like, say, "Starlight" increasing her healing potency by x% after every ability for a duration per Starlight stack along with maybe some AP? It fits her theme thematically and synergizes with her Q in lategame teamfights for staying in fights longer. Maybe 5% and 5 AP per stack capping at 10 stacks, but each stack increases mana costs by 10%.
Now, her Q. I've seen a lot of people mention her Q healing and doing damage. I like the idea, it should probably be given a slightly longer cooldown but shreds MR still. When it heals any number of allies it gives one starlight stack. I also think it only hit champions both damage and heal wise. What more, it should only be castable when an enemy is in range.
In terms of her W, I'd replace it with a medium heal on a medium cooldown. It should have a low ratio. With each stack of Starlight it would increase the potency of the heal but also increase the mana cost. This would managate her heals early and they would be weak enough to deal with in lane but still offer sustain.
I think we should remove the mana heal off her E. If used on an ally it would cleanse CC and maybe give a x% MS buff and have a long cooldown. If used on an enemy it would slow by the same % and silence them, with a cooldown close to live. It would allow good gameplay/counterplay through decision of the Soraka to slow+silence multiple enemies in the time she could cleanse one ally.
Now for her ultimate, Wish (Maybe renamed Starshower). I think it should remain a healing ability. Although I think we need to allow a little more counterplay. Firstly, it should have a channeling windup similar to Fiddlesticks' ult. Now, I don't want to be shot down by DoTA haters (I'm actually a 3 year veteran of League and I've been playing DoTA for a few months only) But I think it should be a lot like Luna's ultimate except they are beams of heals for your allies (or think Kennen), each one adding a stack of Starlight. They would be relatively low interval (.5 sec), low amount of healing strikes lasting say 5 seconds with intense visuals. Wish as it is now is very low skill-wise as long as you're aware of the map. With this new version it's only an AoE around you (removing the global effect allows her to have more power in her kit). It should be a strong team-fight ult but not "win every teamfight" button as burst still counters her Grievous wounds still counters it (less she choose to Infuse an ally)
I feel like this kit would keep her from being excessively boring in laning phase with clutch heals and cc cleanses along with decent harass.
This kit makes Soraka still Soraka but with a fun stack-based system for longer skirmishes/fights. It also fights her Astral-based lore and makes her kit revolve more on clutch healing and well positioned ultimates.
Overall, I think this kit allows for a less boring laning phase for both teams. Soraka's true counter is burst but she also has the ability to counterplay with Infuse.
I would love to hear any feedback on my champion design skills! Thanks for reading :)
