Example, silver 2 players play with silver 2 players. Simple.
I don't want my team to be 4x silver 2s and a silver 5...against a team of gold 5, 2x silver 1, and 3x silver 2.
What is wrong with people playing each other of the same rank?
Because it would make the games lopsided. The matchmaking algorithm tries to put 10 people of the same approximate skill/MMR together.
When you see a team of 4x Silver 2 and a Silver 5 vs. Gold 5, 2x Silver 1, everyone in that game has similar MMR. It's much better than having a game where all 10 people are Silver 2, but some of them have Silver 4 MMR and others have Gold 3 MMR.
if you go on a winning streak you would progress slower.. but if you where losing .. you would drop slower..
Because duo queue exists. Unless the duo literally only play together, chances are good they won't have the same mmr. That difference can really screw up matchmaking.
This is exactly why ranked is so lopsided and weird and ultimately misleading. Your mmr/elo does not reflect in your ranked standing.
its a facade and you cant see the actual elo, you just see the badge! but what you do is, you scout the other team, find out tht there are to gold players on their team but only silvers on yours and you assume, even if it is just subconsciously, that the other team has an advantage when in fact they do not! but you get that into your head and therefore play worse and when you lose you blame it on the goldilocks when in fact it was actually you who lost because of a wrong assumption.
all that aside, when a silver one duos with a bronze 5 (has happened to me more than once) and you are up against a team with all silver 3's, even though the mmr average evens out, the bronze 5 more than likely is going to lose you the game. I think Riot should forbid duoing across different tiers. my personal opinion though!
