Do you feel this person is following the Summoner's Code?

Disclaimer: My thread is protected under the Summoner's Code, Sections 2 & 3: Drive Constructive Feedback and Facilitate Civil Discussion. No one in this thread has been name-shamed. Names were omitted except for my own. My only intention with this thread is to discuss openly what the LoL community deems acceptable, and see if there isn't room adhere more closely to the Summoner's Code.

Stumbled upon this individual after a 3v5, where a fight broke out in lobby. Some special circumstances applied, as mentioned below, which made this circumstance a little different than it would be otherwise. I ended up reporting A for Negative Attitude, as he was extremely bossy, rude, and callous within the game as well as after lobby.

So, I want to know: Who of you would report this person? What for? What are your thoughts on what he said? Do you think his attitude is in line with the Community Concept of the Summoner's Code?

A: report ekko afk Summoner Ezraqel: I don't think he afk intentionally Summoner Ezraqel: I played with him last game Summoner Ezraqel: He was really nice and honorable, gave him teamwork A: doesnt matter Summoner Ezraqel: it does matter A: that doesnt matter A: no [Lucian] came back A: ekko never did Summoner Ezraqel: If that's the case go ahead and report Ashe for when she dipped out cuz "irl stuff" [Ashe]: it was 30 seconds lol Summoner Ezraqel: Even still, it's the same idea A: no it isn't Summoner Ezraqel: you really wanna get a nice person banned because something came up? Summoner Ezraqel: It's just NORMALS Summoner Ezraqel: If it was Ranked okay, I could see your point A: one person gone 4 minutes A: vs 35 minutes A: dont play if your gunna leave Summoner Ezraqel: How could he know? A: so A: you want him on your team more often Summoner Ezraqel: If it was really sudden how could he know? **A: **Oh idk Summoner Ezraqel: YES A: plan your f day Summoner Ezraqel: sure, I would love to have him in all my games Summoner Ezraqel: oh please Summoner Ezraqel: someone drops a stack of plates in the kitchen Summoner Ezraqel: slices their hand open an' bleeding everywhere Summoner Ezraqel: "sorry mom Summoner Ezraqel: I can't pause LoL" A: pffffffffffffff **A: **good joke Summoner Ezraqel: Rofl you're a special kind of cludgie aren't you A: still gets low priorty A: life's like that A: hes gone A: thats what afk is A: QQ A: id honor you A: but your sticking up for an afk **A: **so gg

In this situation, I heavily favor the AFK because I feel he brings more to the game, even if he did AFK. I think individuals like the honored-player (the afk) make the game worth playing, win or lose, especially in a normal game. When you're having fun with your teammates - and even the enemy, as some games go - sometimes it doesn't even matter who wins or loses the game as you're playing the game at it's core. You're dealing damage, shooting the sh--t with 10 people, and having a good time!

Players like A, with his tendency to flame, curse profusely, and boss people around on top of his callous and cruel attitude, only subtract from the LoL experience.

Remember the Code - 5: "Build Relationships," and 6: "Show Humility in Victory, and Grace in Defeat" I feel the AFK contributed strongly to these two aspects of the Code, while A's attitude made the match miserable and, honestly, ruined the match for more reasons than the mere post-game argument.

Now you tell me. Was A following the Code?

Name shaming. I report this thread.

I would report. If it happens regularly, it needs to stop - better time management. If it only happened this once, they'll be let off easy. The past is irrelevant: in either case, you should report.

tbh he has every right to be upset and report an afk on the team. It doesn't matter the situation you should stick through the game for common courtesy. I would be mad and think the same way. I stay no matter what. someone in my family just fell and hurt themself, what do i do? I keep playing the game until it is over. Someone else in my family will help them while i keep playing. I will check on them afterwards. And tbh i prob wouldn't honor you either. You were sticking up for someone who is in the wrong imo.

i report every afk, no matter if its a RL thing or whatever else.

My reason behind this: if that person never afk's, never leaves, my report is not going to harm him/her at all. It is going to be one report that counts for nothing because the person is not a habitual leaver.

if the player frequently afk's because he is a ragequitter, has shitty internet, has a unreliable computer or has poor time management skills, my report is going to weigh in with all the other reports he is hopefully getting.

I can not tell if the player going afk has a legit reason to do so. THAT IS NOT MY JOB. My job is to make sure to report someone afk to sift out the habitual leavers so we can get rid of them!

I wonder if the poll is confusing people a bit? The question contained in the post isn't specific, and so anyone voting "I would report" could mean "I agree with you, I would report A" or "I disagree with you, I would report the AFK."

There is no problem with reporting someone AFK for not connecting all game. It doesn't need to be established that the player did or did not intend to disconnect. The frequency of their AFK games is what will get them into trouble. He doesn't need to ask the whole game to report that player, but it's sort of expected that when you play a 3v5 or 4v5, the players who ruined the game will be reported.

You are allowed to tell him "I won't report him because I don't think it was intentional", but you reported A for continuing the argument? That's uncalled for. If you didn't want to hear a discussion about whether all AFKs should be reported, then you shouldn't have started one with him.

I can't say I disagree with A's stance of reporting someone who left for most of the game without an explanation. If Ekko doesn't do this type of thing often, A's report won't harm them in any way.

That said, I don't think the post game chat was carried out in the most respectful manner.

If A's attitude in game was similar to his post game, I'd probably report him. If not, I'd probably just let it be.

I just don't get this misunderstanding. You're not being punished for leaving a game. You're being punished for leaving habitually. You should report people for leaving or afking every time because they are leaving or AFKing. If this is an isolated event, then they are fine and won't get banned. If they are leaving habitually, it doesn't matter what reason you have, you're still leaving. What is the difference in the end result of two similarly skilled people where one rage quits 20% of his games and where one has to leave to take care of their baby 20% of his games? There is none.

You are playing a game with 9 other people and entering into a social contract to dedicate your time to making this a fun and enjoyable game session for everyone. Breaking that contract for whatever reason is breaking that contract.

He left the game, idc what the reason was. If he doesnt do it often he wont be punished, but if he doesnt get reported every time then you might be letting a repeat offender off the hook.

And this whole "It's only normals" shit has got to stop. It's 30+ minutes of your life, whether it's a ranked game or a normal game. It DOES matter.
