Were Loot Boxes Nerfed?

Up until, well probably 2017 in general, I would open loot boxes fairly regularly, and I would get like, a skin and some type of colored essence, a champion shard and some essence, a champion/skin and some like gemstone or something.

I don't know if it is some sort of awkward coincidence, but ever since maybe even preseason now that I think about it, I only ever get like 1 thing, and that's it. I never get essence at all anymore outside of disenchanting, if I get a gemstone there is nothing else in the box, or I only get just a skin or just a champion.

Did you guys nerf them without telling us (or am I oblivious to them telling us?) so people would buy more boxes or something? Seems a bit to "all that time" to be random, as it was every box was like skin and essence for example, and I haven't had that happen in my last...I dunno, 20 boxes?
