Sometimes I Hate Loving This Game

There are times (like this entire summer so far) I know I shouldn't play and there are times when I just want to stop playing ranked, but I really do enjoy this game. I really really do.

What I don't love or enjoy are the people in this game more often than not, which is saddening to say.

I've met some great people in and on this game, made a few good friends even, and not everyone is bad, but while the majority might not be Riot's definition of "toxic", the majority of this community is pretty terrible, especially right now.

It is depressing to love playing a game so much, but not wanting to play it because of the other people that tend to crop up there as well. Same thing happened to Eve Online over time, where the people just turned into assholes. Not gameplay wise, but I mean actual crazies. A large majority of the community in that game has since left.

I'm afraid this great game, that I truly do love, and wish the best for, is going to eventually get bogged down with angry teenagers, and as bad, if not worse, angry 25+ year olds acting as bad as the teenagers, and the good people left, will eventually quit altogether, leaving only the ragers and trolls.

I think when any game is free to play you run that risk and how a company takes steps to deal with it is what determines the eventual fate of the game. Riot is doing a decent job, but I think they could do better. I know that Jagex of Runescape had a very effective way to take care of those kind of people, but it's not an equivalent game to compare the methods to. Keep in mind I've not played legit Runescape in easily 6 or 7 years so I don't know how it is now.
