I haven't seen a single person who thinks he deserves it yet. Why did he get it when the likes of 
were all popular for longer in both pro play and ranked play. Can someone explain this?

Tøys6 votesI hate seeing "why complain IT'S FREE!!!!!" Sure I don't have to pay money for the skin, but people who make it to gold+ don't just play a couple games and wind up there. You have to put in the time and the effort. Just because you don't have to spend real money dosent mean it's "free." The only motivation I had to get gold was for the victorius skin, now I don't have any motivation to grind for gold. Saying it's free is a lame excuse. I rather pay money for a skin then grind for hours and hours and deal with feeders, afks, and trolls.

rank isnt something to be ashamed of. i feel rank is just a way for riot to put players of similar skill levels vs each other so they can have fair games and enjoy and have fun playing the game... hear me out...
you are bronze.. what if every game you matched vs plats and diamonds? and you get stomped up and down the map and the game is no fun to you.. are you likely to keep playing if that is what happens every time?
on the other hand if your plat/diamond whatever "high" elo if you playing vs people lower skill level then you is that fun not every being challenged? it would be like if you were to go play a game co op vs bots or a custom game vs bots and the difficult is set on easy?
how fun is that?
so in theory rank is there to put us vs people we have a chance to win against while being challenged so the game is fun and rewarding at the same time and keeps you playing....

Why no motivation? Even if you never use it, it's a legacy skin that shows your skill and shows that you reached gold this season. It makes no sense, especially since it's a completely different take on a victorious skin that we've never seen before.
We just got new Arcade skins and the Star Guardians. They're great, but it's just nice to have a 'monsterous' champion be the Victorious one for once.

warpenguin5551 votesThats not how the victorious skin is decided. It goes to the champion who made the biggest impact during the year. He was only popular a few weeks before and after MSI, while Lucian, Trundle, Graves, and many others have been popular in all levels of play and in ranked for a much longer time with a much higher impact then Maokai had.

We have a cycle. It goes Top (Jarvan), Support (Janna), Jungler (Elise), Mid (Morgana), ADC (Sivir).
Now we're back to top lane. And Maokai was one of the dominant top laners in the spring. The Victorious skin tends to focus around the champions who were strong in the early parts of the season, because Riot has to actually make the skin over a few months.
