Questions about Azir's lore.

  • Shurima wasn't always a desert, says Lissandra. So is Lissandra older than him?
  • Or did he turn Shurima into the dessert it now is, as he is the Emperor of the Sands?
  • Or was it Xerath? ^^
  • What was Shurima before that?
  • One of his quotes is: "Shurima will once again stretch to the horizon". Is this a figure of speech or did his kingdom really reach to Icathia and the Guardian's Sea?
  • If it did, is he 'Sandborn' as Lissandra is Iceborn?
  • Does he have some kind of connection to the then reigning watchers, aka void thingies?
  • Does he have some kind of connection to Renekton and Nasus, or was he 'born' in Valoran?
  • Why did his kingdom/ why did he fall? Surely it wasn't because of Xerath, they trapped that guy in a box. But what then?
  • Was it because Shurima was a landlocked kingdom and he had no otherwise noticeable access to water?
  • And how did he re-appear? Xerath is immortal, sure, but that guy?
  • Is he also an Ascendant?
  • Would he rather be friends with Renekton or Nasus? Xerath is besties with Renekton, but he as Emperor is surely somewhat smart and will see that random fury is not good, right?
  • Is Ezreal's amulet related to Azir? It said 'a being twice his size', and Azir is pretty tall.

#Hmm ... questions ...

HEY I CAN ANSWER SOME OF THESE

  • Or did he turn Shurima into the dessert it now is, as he is the Emperor of the Sands?

If ANYONE can turn anything into a dessert, I need to meet them. Yesterday. But for real, he didn't turn it into a desert. It was a already a desert in his lifetime.

  • Does he have some kind of connection to Renekton and Nasus, or was he 'born' in Valoran?
  • Why did his kingdom/ why did he fall? Surely it wasn't because of Xerath, they trapped that guy in a box. But what then?
  • And how did he re-appear? Xerath is immortal, sure, but that guy?
  • Is he also an Ascendant?

HIS LORE ISN'T EVEN UP YET, MAN. JUST HANG ON

  • Was it because Shurima was a landlocked kingdom and he had no otherwise noticeable access to water?

No, they have magic water or something dope like that.

  • Would he rather be friends with Renekton or Nasus? Xerath is besties with Renekton, but he as Emperor is surely somewhat smart and will see that random fury is not good, right?

Yeah, you got it. He doesn't appreciate reckless fury.

Very good questions. With the Shurima event and Ascension on the horizon, I'm wondering how much lore we're going to get out of it.

After listening to Azir's VO multiple times, I've got some questions as well.

  • Why does he not mention Nasus, but all the other big Shuriman players?
  • What is alignment? His he truly neutral? Can I refer to him as good or evil?
  • He mentions a city. What city is there in Shurima besides the floating pyramids?
  • Why does he not mention the pyramids? Did he build them, or were they before/after his time?

I just want to point out that hes not a goofball like Gnar and his lore better be deep and meaningfull.

That is all.

We'll probably have to wait until the next patch cycle before we get anything definitive about Azir's lore. In the meantime we can watch some of his PBE gameplay, so that's good.
