What's with the facebook requirement in the pool party event?

unlock a mystery champion When you connect to Facebook friend discovery.

I understand wanting to promote your new feature, but why insist with pushing it on people? I don't use Facebook. I don't want anything to do with their lack-luster security standards. I have no intention of accepting their ToS. I don't agree with their every declining privacy standards.

For the Mystery Champion, you’ll need to connect League and Facebook.

Again, I don't use facebook, but isn't this a different requirement?

i don't use Facebook also and i hate how you need to connect

im not going to connect even if it gives me a free champion

i guess because Riot is just trying to help you discover more friends to make the game funner?

They mentioned it only needs to be connected for 24 hours to have it give the champion, then you can disconnect it. That's my plan if we get that far.

You must connect from 11:59PM PDT on 6/28 through 11:59PM PDT on 6/29 so we can unlock your Mystery Champ.

Connecting it isn't the issue. I don't have Facebook or have any intention of getting an account.

Straight up, if you want the Mystery Champ and don't use Facebook, just make a fake account. It won't hurt anyone's feelings.

I have a problem with Facebook's ToS. And they have a history of using it to it's users' detriment. Hell, facebook has become so widespread. They've even started working under the assumption that everyone already has a greed to them. And unless the ToS changed recently, you agree to by bound by them even if you delete your account. This is how they try to enforce their BS trademark on the word "book". (Interestingly, they have a registered trademark on the word "face".)
